To photograph a selection of watches, to be used commercially, both in print and online. All of these images were used to advertise the product. The idea was to portray the timepiece in its best light and in one shot. I currently use three Bowens Streamlites. That provide a continuous daylight balanced light. These come with diffusers, perfect for softening harsh light and achieving the correct light settings. The third light also comes in useful when back lighting is required.

My name is Harry Courtenay-Bishop. I'm currently working as a graphic designer and photographer in London. With over 5 years experience, I would consider myself to be a 'T-shaped' creative. I become acquainted with the science behind photography/lighting during my BA Hons. In Film and Television Production. Where I specialised in cinematography. I went on to take photography training from industry specialists Robert Popper. I have since attended web design courses at LSCE.

These are a selection of layouts from various projects, starting with this folding brochure for BFI. As the theme was horror, I decided to distress the background and masthead for a damaged, torn effect, almost like the brochure had been part of a horror film. This would contrast with the content, aligned to a grid, displaying the film and cinema information. When designing the Dulux. For home decoration. I then set the heading in Gotham. The headings for the half-yearly report were set in Serifa.

To design a type lockup and album cover for DJ Sugai. An artist mixing hip hop and electronic music. I wanted to go for an original looking design, with an urban feel. After finalizing my sketch, I brought the concept into Illustrator and started to build each glyph as a vector, adding the drips and bubbles afterwards. For the album cover I decided to play on the name Material Love. By stripping any fill or colour from the type lockup. For the reverse, I photographed DJ Sugai.

To photograph a selection of jewellery for use in print and online. The clients guidelines were to make the stones in each piece pop. The client favoured a shallow depth of field, to concentrate the eye on each piece. This selection shows photographs of ladies pendants and rings. Shooting in a light cocoon helps reduce unwanted reflections and allows you to control the light hitting the metals. It also provides a perfect structure with which to hang pendants. Depending on the size of the piece, I find F10.
