Chad In India

Saturday, May 15, 2010. A Bit of Culture. If anyone still reads my blog you may be wondering a little bit about the people of India. For the most part I've confirmed what I'd long suspected, that people everywhere are pretty much the same. However, each culture has some unique aspects that make it interesting and India is no exception. On the subject of food, in Indian culture a guest is required to consume incredible amounts of it! Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My! Thursday, May 13, 2010. It was over 1...

Chad In India: The Flora of India

http://www.chadliness.blogspot.com/2010/05/flora-of-india.html

Monday, May 03, 2010. The Flora of India. This is a special post for my mom and anyone else who loves flowers :). Everywhere I go in India I see flowers- lots of them! Flowers are so abundant here that women wear strings of fresh flowers in their hair. Most surprising has been the number of trees that are loaded with flowers, many of which have more flowers than leaves. While I'm not very good with names, here are at least some pictures:. Besides flowers, the greenery itself is also quite beautiful:.

Chad In India: King of the Pink City

http://www.chadliness.blogspot.com/2010/05/king-of-pink-city.html

Thursday, May 13, 2010. King of the Pink City. The last two days I was in Jaipur. This city is fascinating for two reasons. First, most of the buildings are a shade of red or orange (which for some reason translates to pink here, not quite sure why). All of the buildings were painted "pink" in the 1850s when the Prince of Wales visited and the theme has been maintained since. This is one of the famous buildings, the Hawa Mahal. Another interesting thing about Jaipur is that there is a king here! There is...

Chad In India: Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

http://www.chadliness.blogspot.com/2010/05/lions-and-tigers-and-bears-oh-my.html

Saturday, May 15, 2010. Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My! I risked the heat and went to the zoo in Delhi today. It was pretty cool (figuratively, definitely not literally :) Most of the animals were native to India although they had some from Africa as well. The animals from India included tigers (which I expected) as well as lions and bears (which I did not expect). Here are pictures of an asiatic lion, a white tiger, and a Himalayan black bear:. Chad In India: Trekking in Coorg

http://www.chadliness.blogspot.com/2010/05/trekking-in-coorg.html

Friday, May 07, 2010. My first day in Coorg we went trekking. Coorg is a beautiful, mountainous area in southern India. Seeing so much greenery was a very welcome change from the endless buildings, roads, and honking in the cities. My trekking partner was one of Shivani's friends, Pragya. Much of the landscape reminded me of Tennessee but occasionally I would see a tree which reminded me I wasn't in the US anymore. After some more climbing we were up in the clouds. Saturday, February 28, 2009. Relatively Good News and Bad News. Romwell is not a very happening place, and I don't have any transportation so I'm kind of stuck here after work, not a ton of stuff to do. I don't mind experiencing this part of NZ, in fact I'm really glad I did. I'm just not sure I want to spend another week of my last month here. Oh by the way IT'S MY LAST MONTH. WHAT? Time has gone really fast. "what's that you say Mom? It hasn't gone fast for you? Sunday, February 22, 2009. It rained aga...

http://tylerstieglitz.blogspot.com/2010/02/oh-hey-guys.html

Thursday, February 25, 2010. I Now Eat Lemons with Salt. Oh hey guys. How are things? So, here it's been raining, and raining and then the sun comes out, and then it rains again. I really don't mind rain too much. Except that I don't have a lot of clothes, so when some get knocked out of commission because they're wet it kind of stinks. I've started some research on a chicken barn to put at the new plot. Lifesong would like some layers to supply eggs for the kids, and to sell any extra. Poultry i...Subsc...

Monday, April 6, 2009. Sorry guys. I wish we could have had one last meal together. I guess I'll just have to see you when you come to the States, or if I ever get to Europe.
