Diary of a Chain Stitcher : Technique Checklist

http://chainstitcher.blogspot.com/p/technique-checklist.html

I've been inspired by Reana Louise. Via Sonja at GingerMakes. To make myself a checklist of sewing techniques I'd like to try to master. The aim is for this to help me choose patterns which will challenge my skills and help me improve and the fact that all of you can see how I'm getting on will hopefully spur me on with this too! Success first time on my Robson Coat. Making my own Covered Buttons. Pockets on my Robson Coat. On my swiss dot Archer Shirt. Easier than expected on my Floral Lonsdale Dress.

Diary of a Chain Stitcher : March 2015

http://chainstitcher.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 31 March 2015. March Indie Pattern Update. Well I don't know how it's been for you but for me March has been one of those months that has flown past yet the start of it feels forever ago! I was looking back over my notes for the round up this month and started to wonder if some of the bits at the top of the list were actually from February it seemed such a long time since I'd read about them. Anyway there's a lot of juicy news to get through so I'm going to crack on. Melissa from Fehr Trade.

Diary of a Chain Stitcher : Denim McCalls 6696 Shirtdress

http://chainstitcher.blogspot.com/2015/05/denim-mccalls-6696-shirtdress.html

Thursday, 21 May 2015. Denim McCalls 6696 Shirtdress. I'm so excited to share my latest completed garment with you today! It was one of those projects which seemed to come together without any struggles and just worked. I'm so pleased with the style, fit, fabric, and finishing I managed to achieve. I'm sure many of you will recognise the pattern as the infamous McCalls 6696 shirtdress. I've been thinking about making a denim shirtdress for a while now, they keep popping up all over my Pinterest. Boy was ...

Thursday, 31 July 2014. July Indie Pattern Update! It's the end of another month and this one has absolutely flown by for me! It's been a bit of a hectic one for me work wise and the number of posts waiting to be read in my bloglovin' feed has reached new heights! As a result I'm fairly sure I've missed some important goings on or got the wrong end of the stick with others so please feel free to leave your own additions/correct me in the comments and I'll be sure to update the post. Which can be made up ...

Diary of a Chain Stitcher : December 2014

http://chainstitcher.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 24 December 2014. Sequin and Red Velvet Christmas Party Dress. The newly released Kim Dress from By Hand London. I had an unexplainable urge to sew up that wrap skirt in a silk velvet. Something about making up a winter version with those little pleats and the drape of the overlapping petals said luxurious rich coloured velvet to me! Was in town. Lo and behold Unique Fabrics had silk velvet in a wide range of colours for £15/m which I thought to be pretty reasonable. I had a hard ...My decisio...

Moar McCall’s 6696. I’m still alive! First up is my 6696 kitty cats shirtdress:. It’s not without its faults, but I love it so because the kitty cats are so adorable! The teeny tiny one on the bottom left with its tiny head cocked to the side is my very favorite. The idea for this one came from Fiona. Who made a lovely denim 6696. And it gets a lot of compliments, so I think the pretty red topstitching and buttons are distracting enough for people to not notice. Tagged with: cotton steel. This should not...

Sara's Little Dabblings: Not the most exciting week

http://saraslittledabblings.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-havent-been-doing-that-much.html

Wednesday, 15 July 2015. Not the most exciting week. I haven't been doing that much creatively since returning from Edinburgh, I've been working lots instead. I also picked up some quilting rulers, a 4.5 inch triangle and a 6 inch square. I spent a few hours cutting out squares ready to be sewn and cut into 8 half square triangles but otherwise haven't touched my sewing stash all week! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. All work and no play. Solid plan of action. So, Zo.'.

McCall’s 6891 Shirtdress in Nani Iro Double Gauze. Yes, I do still have a blog! And yes, I have definitely been sewing, as those of you who follow me on Instagram surely know. I’ve been doing a pretty terrible job of keeping up with photographing what I make, though, and then even when I do a big photo shoot and edit all of my photos, it takes me a month to actually write a post to go with them! So here’s me like two months ago:. This is McCall’s 6891, which is a Palmer/Pletsch pattern. The photo below m...

Sew Dixie Lou. : A round belly and a round cocoon coat

http://www.sewdixielou.com/2015/02/a-round-belly-and-round-cocoon-coat.html

Monday, 23 February 2015. A round belly and a round cocoon coat. I hope this last hurrah of energy means baby Szabobobo is on her way. I've been meaning to blog my coat since November, but just never got round to it. I've been sewing lots (and not just baby stuff), it's just I never really felt like bringing it to the blog - anyone else ever feel the need for a blog sabbatical? For the pattern I chose the Round Coat. For some time I've had this camel coloured wool coating in my stash - it's from Dalston ...

So, here it is - McCalls 6436 in a sleeveless version. I wanted a shirt for the summer that would be easy for nursing and just the right shape to remain fitted yet hide some lumps and bumps I'm not prepared to flaunt just yet!

Sunday, 7 September 2014. Two Netties and a Bump. Even though it's been over a month since I last hung out in blogger, I have been sewing and have some overdue makes to share with you all. My recent makes all have a certain thing in common.they stretch(! As I am now 3 1/2 months pregnant with my first bubba! First up is a pattern I am really in love with. Nettie. The fit was perfect and couldn't be more comfortable! I really love the design of the bum and hip area - it's not the vag-slicing cut of the 90...

Sew Dixie Lou. : September 2014

http://www.sewdixielou.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Monday, 29 September 2014. Sewing for the man. Burda 7045 shirt. This latest project was promised almost two years ago. I'm that crappy when it comes to sewing for Mr Szabs. On a trip to Berlin, some moons ago, we went to the very cute and candy store-like Frau Tulpe. If you're ever in Berlin, I definitely recommend taking a trip to Mitte to check this place out. I got some lovely Michael Miller prints and some unique German cotton. As there are two styles and one shirt has the option of darts. In making...

Diary of a Chain Stitcher

Friday, 16 March 2018. A Tartan Lined Harrington Jacket for my Dad. I did a fair bit of unselfish sewing before Christmas and for some reason when we ticked over into January I couldn't stop. To be fair some of the things I've been making have been long promised as birthday gifts.sorry you had to wait so long for this one Dad! The idea for this jacket came when we were talking about my sewing a long time back and Dad made a flyaway 'could you make me a proper Harrington with tartan lining? None of the po...
