A beer brewer's blog. Let There Be Beer. Brewers big and small – Part Two. On September 28, 2010. So on the one hand you have brewers like Sleeman churning out product by the hectolitre. On the other hand, you have guys making 50 liters of hand-crafted beer every time they get a free Sunday. The set-up is rudimentary, but with enough brewing knowledge, any beer can be created – although not with the consistency seen in a larger brewhouse. Up top we have the water boiler, which flows down into the mash tu...

A beer brewer's blog. Let There Be Beer. Archive for November, 2010. Good beer gone bad. On November 16, 2010. The bottle was capped and corked. It poured without head or carbonation. The typical Lambic sourness was intensified. Five glasses were served and the typical response was to spit the beer back into its glass. welcome to the rest of your life: The Real Ocean
http://welcometotherestofyourlife-beth.blogspot.com/2010/08/real-ocean.html
Welcome to the rest of your life. Sunday, August 8, 2010. Some may be thinking "what else is there besides the real ocean? My friends, it's true - there is something out there, an impostor if you will. it's name? The Long Island Sound. That the shore is filled with rocks? Rocks AND the worst part - no waves. I mean, the water *trickles* to the shore. So not only am I now further than 10 miles from the beach, I am 40 miles away from THE SOUND. Ending the day with Key Lime at cold stone. When I lose 50 lbs?

A beer brewer's blog. Let There Be Beer. Laquo; The best I ever had…. Good beer gone bad. Moving wine from the dinner table. Beer is a food. And it wants to be with other food. This became apparent to me when I headed down to my local, well-stocked and well-informed cheese shop. What’s nice about beer as opposed to wine, is that the carbonation of the beer lifts the cheese from the tongue and creates this cheesey-beer brew in the mouth. If you can get the marriage to really sing, it’s har...I’ve ju...

welcome to the rest of your life: The first year
http://welcometotherestofyourlife-beth.blogspot.com/2010/07/first-year.html
Welcome to the rest of your life. Saturday, July 10, 2010. So the countdown stands at 5 days until M's first birthday. What's happened in his first year? We learned about colic. We coined the term "code brown" and it's caught on - we've even heard it referenced among friends. We know that our Boxer Haylie is absolutely the best dog around - M will grab her face and she will let it fly. Really, she is awesome with him. I can pack a diaper bag in under 5 minutes - Daddy cannot. Mommy got a promotion! He is...
