The Cooks: November 2011
http://cookfamilychronicle.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 28, 2011. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift! A few months ago I found myself thinking that it would be great if Thanksgiving and Christmas were a little more spread out on the calendar. but now in the midst of the holidays, I find it really making sense. While last week we all reflected on what we are thankful for. I realize it all comes back to Jesus. I am thankful for the gift of Jesus! He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. I was terrible and fa...

The Cooks: May 2012

Saturday, May 26, 2012. Eating out with a loud-ish almost toddler usually looks like- let's eat as quickly as we can and get out of here. And we have been known to eat separately- I'll stand outside with E while D eats and vice versa (but that was only on one really unfortunate occasion We picked a small nice-ish type place and E was so loud every one was watching him! It wasn't too crowded, the sun was going down, and a table was open for us. and we settled down for a nice dinner. Until the birds came.

The Cooks: September 2012
http://cookfamilychronicle.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 4, 2012. It seems I've gotten in to the habit of blogging an update of our lives (well, mainly E-man's) on a monthly basis. And sadly, I haven't been using my "good" camera much lately either. I'd like to blame it on the heat, but that's probably not why : ) I do plan to start taking more "nice" pictures while documenting our lives, and hope to start updating more often. Here is (again) a look through my iphone pics at what we've been up to. Here are the boys cutting up. Big Smartypant...

the not so comfortable gospel | radically normal

The not so comfortable gospel. While I completely understand that I am still a man made of flesh and my default is “me, mine, and what’s best for myself” I am being stirred and reminded that I have never been called to be comfortable. Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? When does losing something ever cause you to find or gain anything? Does that mean anything to me? Jesus has not once called us to comfort but He has called us to radical obedience. Does God provide us the opportunity to ...

The Cooks: July 2012
http://cookfamilychronicle.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 27, 2012. Well, because almost an entire month has gone by since the last time I dropped in here, I thought I'd give you a glimpse in to our last month through my phone pics. which are pretty bad quality. but I'm thankful to have it with me at all time! We have gone swimming and had a picnic lunch by the pool. Worked on our golf game. Played at the splash pad. Picked up some kind of virus, but went to the doc just to make sure it was all ok. Found a fun mirror. Watched my brother be famous.

The song never stops. Joy to the World. Fields, floods, and rocks repeating a sound of joy? While to many this may sound like the writer had had a little bit too much fruitcake, I would argue that songwriter Isaac Watts was not a weirdo artist guy but instead he got it. He completely grasped the cry of creation. He fully lays out the heartbeat of Psalm 148. The not so comfortable gospel. Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? When does losing something ever cause you to find or gain anything?

overanalyzing the gospel | radically normal
https://radicallynormal.wordpress.com/2010/10/18/overanalyzing-the-gospel
Being an OCD detail guy I overanalyze everything. Sometimes I can even overanalyze taking out the trash. Should I take it out now or wait until we throw out this old food? Is there a need to empty the cans in the rest of the house or should I just wait until company is coming? Do I need to go ahead and take it down to the street now to beat the rain or is there even rain in the forecast? In the last 24 hours though, I have been slapped with the question of do we overanalyze the gospel? Feed for this Entry.

The Cooks: October 2011
http://cookfamilychronicle.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 18, 2011. We packed up for an early weekend last thursday and went up to Chattanooga. E-man did not so much enjoy the car ride there (bad for us), but he enjoyed himself while we were there! He had his own bed. Looking at the mountains. Learning to shoot a cannon. The heavens declare the glory of God;. The skies proclaim the work of His hands. Psalm 19:1. Wednesday, October 12, 2011. A couple of firsts. E-man has had a few "firsts" in the last week:. And check out this face. oh my : ).

Monday, November 12, 2012. Here's a quick look at the rest of our October and beginning of November:. Our new church (grace community church) had our first baptism "service" the weekend of Oct. 20. This weekend also happened to be the first cold snap that we have had this fall. We had the baptisms in a pool. and told by the gasps of everyone who went under, the water was freezing! I know that our friends will never forget the day they were baptized! We love footy pajamas! Ethan's cousin Liam dropped by f...
