Theatre Bay Area Chatterbox: Where Do Original Musicals "Play" in the Bay Area New Play Landscape?
http://blog.theatrebayarea.org/2011/03/where-do-original-musicals-play-in-bay.html
Theatre Bay Area Chatterbox. Thursday, March 17, 2011. Where Do Original Musicals "Play" in the Bay Area New Play Landscape? There’s no question that the Bay Area is a hotbed for presenting new plays. Interestingly, the proportion of new musicals produced in the area, seems (to me) surprisingly low. Aside from ACT's upcoming production of Tales of the City. And last year's showing of American Idiot. By Peter Tucker and Dogs! Currently in performances through March 27 at the Eureka Theatre, As Always.

The Lark's Nest (mature content). The mature content wing of Exit, Pursued by a Lark, a playwriting blog. About Rice Kugel, the novel (work in progress). This is a novelization of Rice Kugel the play. Of course, a novel is not a play and a play is not a novel, so it will be quite different (and quite a few more words, which is the biggest challenge I’m finding). Here’s approximately the first 13 pages, which corresponds to the first 10 pages of the play. Call me Mike. For now, at least. I was born Tang M...

Post 1: Femme Visibility and Subjectivity in Technical Theatre – A Backstory. Recently, while I was sitting in on a rehearsal, a director asked me, “Why sound? My immediate response: “Because it is like acting, but without being looked at.”. 8220;Good answer.” he said thoughtfully, and the matter was dropped. At least, it had appeared to be dropped. Yet my own mind continued to mull over my response again and again wondering how I had come to this conclusion. Correct kind of beauty. Of being looked at!
