Munchkins and Mayhem: May 2013
http://munchkinsandmayhem-lynda.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 21 May 2013. It's all about scissors for my two 2yr old munchkins at the minute so today I thought we would try something a little different to the usual cutting bits of paper and make it a bit more sensory (and manageable for them) by adding scissors to coloured cooked spaghetti to snip at. Interestingly both of my scissor happy toddlers were initially reluctant to get stuck in, with one of them telling me 'urgh- it's wiggly worms! To explore, the big girls opted for the less messy way- tongs!

Tuesday, 22 January 2013. After noticing that some of the children are very interested in playing with mirrors at the moment, today I decided that we would explore them a little further and add some sensory play to the experience. When I placed the large mirror on the floor the children got straight into playing 'peek a boo' with their reflections. When I told them we were going to do some drawing on the mirror the older two were very excited (they both love to draw- on anything and everything sometimes!

Monday, 20 January 2014. These Are a Few of my Favourite Things. How wonderful it was to wake up to a beautiful frosty, sunny day today. Ok, so technically I woke up when it was still dark due to a 7am start, but when the sun did poke through I decided it was far too good an opportunity to waste and that the munchkins and I should get outside and enjoy some good old fashioned fresh air and exercise and blow the Winter cobwebs away. Where is she now? It really was a stunningly beautiful morning, and what ...

Munchkins and Mayhem: March 2014

Saturday, 22 March 2014. A Spontaneous Day Out at Bucklebury Farm. Yesterday was a rare thing- a day with no afternoon school run as Emma was invited to a friends for a sleepover. An opportunity like that, especially on a sunny day, was far too good to waste so I decided to surprise the munchkins with a trip to Bucklebury Farm. They were a bit reluctant to stroke the sheep- I think the fact they were so huge made them wary! My favourites were the piglets- too cute! After a play and our picnic lunch we en...

Wednesday, 19 February 2014. A Day Out at Basildon Park. Today we took advantage of a break in the weather and headed out for a day trip to the nearby National Trust property Basildon Park with some good friends. It's not somewhere I have ever visited before so it was great to explore somewhere new and the children all had a fabulous time. No country house is complete without chickens and little R loved saying hello to them. Running up and down the hill was great fun for the littlies- there was lots of l...

Tuesday, 30 October 2012. Hubble Bubble Toil and Trouble! All kids love Halloween and as I am a mean Mummy who won't let my kids trick or treat I thought I'd better make up for it by providing some half term spooky fun for us to enjoy together this week. There was glitter everywhere by the time they had finished. Anyone would think it was Christmas, not Halloween! Emma was inspired to chalk her own haunted house. The kids weren't too sure about the texture of the spaghetti worms. L was more interested in...

Friday, 2 November 2012. We're Going on a Scarecrow Hunt. Yesterday we spent the morning in the fresh Autumn air seeking out Olympian scarecrows in Mortimer. The residents and local businesses did an amazing job with the scarecrows and the children were so excited to find each one. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. I do hope they do another hunt next year- I'm looking forward to it already! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Making cards and other projects. View my complete profile. Same as it Ever Was.

Wednesday, 14 May 2014. The Gruffalo Trail at Alice Holt Forest. Everyone loves a Gruffalo (especially me! We made it eventually though and the children were eager to get going and follow the arrows that led us through the woods. The dens we discovered were fun though and the girls loved exploring them. R is really into jumping at the moment so spent her walk setting herself challenges and climbing on tree roots and stumps and leaping off. R carried on practicing her balancing skills in the park . M love...
