Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding. Thursday, 11 October 2012. East Street - Rathbone Place. A recent dinner with friends meant finding a restaurant in central London where we'd actually be able to get a table without queuing for hours, so we decided to head to East Street. Overall I really enjoyed my evening at East Street. The service was speedy and friendly, cocktails were standard but reasonably cheap and the food was surprisingly good. Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding: July 2011

http://cheesepeasandchocolatepudding.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding. Monday, 18 July 2011. Hungarian Goulash with Caraway Seed Dumplings. Casserole book, but as they say, you can't improve on a classic, so I don't think it needs updating. 800g pork leg, diced. 4 onions, sliced. 4 carrots, sliced. 100g button mushrooms, cut into quarters. 3 garlic cloves, crushed. 2 tbsp plain flour. 2 tbsp tomato puree. 4 tbsp white wine. 225g self raising flour. 5 tbsp cold water. 2 tsp caraway seeds. Heat a tbsp of oil in a casserole dish and brown th...

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding: November 2011

http://cheesepeasandchocolatepudding.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding. Wednesday, 30 November 2011. Busaba Eathai - Soho. A few weeks ago I went for dinner with my fellow account management babe Lucy. We went to a little Thai place on Wardour St, called Busaba Eathai. There are a few of them dotted around central London, they work on the same principle as Wagamama. Location: Soho, Westminster, London WC1, UK. Exmouth Market - Farringdon. Last Tuesday I went for lunch with Fran, who's starting a new job this week - so high five to her!

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding: Homa - Stoke Newington (Revisited)

http://cheesepeasandchocolatepudding.blogspot.com/2012/03/homa-stoke-newington-revisited.html

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding. Tuesday, 20 March 2012. Homa - Stoke Newington (Revisited). Was one of my favourite restaurants in N16; it was the place we went to celebrate anniversaries, new jobs, or just because we wanted a good meal. Ever since Alistair's closed last year, I've been on the look out for a new local restaurant to fill the void and I think Homa. Might just fit the bill. After the delicious breakfast. Rye and white bread. Slow cooked squid with chorizo, green beans and potatoes.

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding: May 2012

http://cheesepeasandchocolatepudding.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding. Tuesday, 29 May 2012. The Hampshire Hog - Hammersmith. Earlier in the year, I was lucky enough to be invited to the newly opened Hampshire Hog. Smoked Salmon on potato blinis. Venison on carrot puree. And finally I tucked into a chocolate fondant with a melting middle (no picture due to my leaving my phone and camera at home, good work), served with vanilla ice cream and a slab of honeycomb, you can't go wrong with that can you? The pub itself has been beautifully deck...

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding: March 2012

http://cheesepeasandchocolatepudding.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding. Wednesday, 28 March 2012. Herman ze German - Charing Cross. The weekend before last we went to Cardiff to watch the Six Nations. Chris is a Welshman and therefore obsessed with rugby, it's like a national religion over there. Anyway, our trip to leekagogo land meant jumping on the train at 7pm on Friday night, leaving us half an hour to grab some food beforehand. My normal go to place for a speedy and cheap dinner is Chilango. Bill's Cafe - Cambridge. The restaurant it...

Soba-Ya, East Village | Culinary Creep

https://theculinarycreep.wordpress.com/2013/07/06/soba-ya-east-village

Soba-Ya, East Village. July 6, 2013. A crowded entrance of people is misleading as to the wait time; after no more than 2 minutes we’re beckoned and lead to our table. Staff are almost all authentically Japanese as are most of the customers. The inside is traditional Japanese, clean wooden booths separated by a low wooden divider while white opaque panels are backlit with warm light. Ignoring my run in with the grate yam, Soba-ya is brilliant at authentic Japanese soba. The flavours are clean and sim...

Sao Mai, East Village | Culinary Creep

https://theculinarycreep.wordpress.com/2013/05/27/sao-mai-east-village

Sao Mai, East Village. May 27, 2013. A tall sweet glass of lychee drink, filled with the round bouncy orbs of the tinned variety added just sweetness that I wasn’t craving a dessert at the end. If it is truly Pho you’re after, below is the menu. For the record, the photo of Duncan’s Pho, came out all poor even by my standards. Sao Mai is a pretty under-rated gem in the East Village. Service was a bit slow and scattered, but I’m happy to over look that for a great bun cha. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Schapiro’s, LES | Culinary Creep

https://theculinarycreep.wordpress.com/2013/08/25/schapiros-les

Schapiro’s, LES. August 25, 2013. The Lower East Side during the day is vastly different once the sun sets. On a lazy Sunday morning, the streets are largely empty, save for a few shop keepers readying their businesses for the day ahead. The only real signs of life come from the cafes and restaurants serving brunch to those who have managed to venture out. The food is American-Jewish. Kugal, pastrami and latkes are offered at brunch, but it’s the Shrimp and grits that catch my eye. Enter your comment here.

Cafe Select, Soho. August 18, 2013. The inside is charming with a ceiling covered with fairy lights, but during the day and particularly in Summer, the prime seats are the 4 small tables out the front; seats arranged to create the perfect view for people watching. Cocktails are ideal for the last vestiges of Summer; various combinations of prosecco, mint and lemon slip down all too easily. Http:/ www.cafeselectnyc.com/. One thought on “ Cafe Select, Soho. Calexico, Lower East Side. June 27, 2013. So where have I been eating? If you’re still reading, I do finally talk about the restaurant in the title. Calexico first came on my radar after reading Bionic Bites’ post. I mentally filed the name away in the back of my head and SPOILER ALERT: my favourite bowl of food in NYC so far has come from here. In case you hadn’t picked up on it yet, both Duncan and I really love Calexico. I’m already scheming ways to get us back there this weekend, but ...8211; I hate ...

The Smith, East Village | Culinary Creep

The Smith, East Village. May 20, 2013. My indoctrination to American life has begun. Naturally food is the starting point as it should be. Brunch is this awful bastion of life in New York. It’s not just a meal; it’s an event. Come Sunday, the majority of restaurants switch from their usual menus and offer brunch options only. Reservations are generally not taken and because no one in New York eats a weekend breakfast at. Http:/ www.thesmithnyc.com/. One thought on “ The Smith, East Village. You are comme...

The Meatball Shop, LES. July 20, 2013. Americans generally have a bad rep when it come to diet. Birthplace of burgers, fries, and known for the wonderous ways that bacon can be worked into each and every meal; it’s no wonder that their rep for nutrition is less than stellar. While I can’t speak for the situation in middle-America, I’ve found that New York in general does really great salads. Http:/ www.themeatballshop.com/. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Momofuku Noodle Bar, East Village. May 5, 2013. A longtime fan of David Chang and in particular the Lucky Peach magazine he co-founded with Peter Meehan, Momofuku Noodle bar is actually my first opportunity to try his food. Wanting to start things slowly, and not overly hungry, we skipped over the famed pork buns and went straight for ramen. Things I learnt about New York this week:. 8211; Unlike London, there is no set rule for standing on the left of escalators. This infuriates me to no end. I signed u...

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding

Cheese, Peas and Chocolate Pudding. Friday, July 8, 2011. For those unaware, yesterday was a holiday that ranks almost as high as Thanksgiving in my book. almost. National Mac and Cheese Day. And no, I'm not making this up. I admit, I did not know of this day until this year, but now that I do, you can bet it gets a gold star in my planner. How else would one celebrate other than to have the classic dish itself, but with a deliciously unconventional twist? Move over, turkey. Monday, June 27, 2011. June i...
