The Mad Tern: Bad day for doves
http://madtern.blogspot.com/2008/09/bad-day-for-doves.html
Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Bad day for doves. Yesterday, I hired a friend to work with me on thinning our huge douglas-fir tree in the backyard. Everything went very well, but we both wondered why two doves did some dangerous flying stunts in the area with enormous limbs falling all around them from heights of up to eighty feet. I found out later. Our counselor assured us that the mother would find her babies and that they had a very good chance of survival. He also passed on two pieces of informati...

oh-ke-doh-ke: April 2008

Tuesday, April 29, 2008. After work on Wednesday afternoons, I attend a china painting class. I have been going to class for a few years now. The participants are mostly women, my age and older. I would venture a pretty safe bet that Grandma Williams (JW's Mom) is the oldest in the class, clocking in at 85 years young. Most of the students paint flowers on all shapes of china; oftentimes, they paint fruit. I enjoy painting these things as well. My least favorite flower to paint? It can be as unusual as y...

GEORGIA ON MY MIND. Monday, September 29, 2008. Limited Gas.Long Lines. While their is an actual shortage of gas coming into the city, most of the problem is steming from people panicing. People are filling up before neccessary and if they are allowed they are filling up several of those red gas canisters for later. If people would just hold off until they needed it, the situation would not be quite so bad. Sunday, September 21, 2008. Labels: Family and Friends. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

oh-ke-doh-ke: Pomp and Circumstance
http://oh-ke-doh-ke.blogspot.com/2008/05/pomp-and-circumstance.html
Thursday, May 29, 2008. We now have two college graduates! Dan received BS degrees in both Physics and Math on May 10. Over 2400 diplomas were handed out. Luckily, they do not read every name like they do for high school. It rained after the ceremony. We found a good use for the mortarboard as a rain hat. Unfortunately, Mom's keepsake became a bit warped. The next day, we moved Dan out of the dorm for the last time. Moving in and out of dorms definitely gives one an incentive to graduate! The Mad Tern: February 2008

Thursday, February 28, 2008. When a dog chases a zamboni. A picture is worth a thousand words. Regards to http:/ www.deadspin.com/. Links to this post. Wednesday, February 20, 2008. As you can see, this part of Poland is surprisingly reminiscent of the 'Daks (although probably more like the White Mountains of NH) where she eventually made her American home. She'd have probably felt more at home there than, say, Illinois. Links to this post. Monday, February 11, 2008. If you are thinking that (or even if ...

The Mad Tern: December 2008
http://madtern.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Here are some other pictures from around Ahrensburg. German art can be kind of strange (not unlike American art, actually), but can someone please tell me what the point of this sculpture is and why the city allowed it in their park?
