July | 2013 | Chelsea Travels Far

https://chelseatravelsfar.wordpress.com/2013/07

July 7, 2013. Getting to Port Barton was a bit of a mission… We took a tricycle to the bus terminal and then a bus to Port Barton on the wettest, bumpiest road I have ever been on! I carried on reading my book, Martin was a bit scared ;). When we arrived in Port Barton we were dropped right at our accommodation – Monkey Family. We lived with monkeys! One morning we woke up and there was a monkey on the rafters above our mosquito net! The beach was pretty much deserted. We hiked through the jungle…. Here&...

The enchanting Ifugao rice terraces of Banaue | Chelsea Travels Far

https://chelseatravelsfar.wordpress.com/2014/03/12/the-enchanting-ifugao-rice-terraces-of-banaue

March 12, 2014. The enchanting Ifugao rice terraces of Banaue. The whole way to Banaue I was practically bouncing up and down. The rice terraces of Sagada had been pretty cool but I’d heard Banaue was something else. Yes, it was just rice but oh my it was spectacular! The terraces were built over 2000 years ago by the Ifugao people and are still functional today, providing a major food source and industry for this small village in the Cordillera mountains. Their image is on the filipino. Reaching the top...

Coffin Caves | Chelsea Travels Far

https://chelseatravelsfar.wordpress.com/2014/01/15/coffin-caves

January 15, 2014. Slipping and tripping down a steep hill, Martin asked “are you sure you want to go down here? It’s going to be hell to get back up”. Yes it would be, but I wanted to see the coffin caves. Ever since I’d read about the coffins in the outdated, battered version of the Lonely Planet that we were carrying with us, I knew I had to visit Sagada. The province continually surprised us; who expects to see. Laquo; Previous post. Next post ». One response to “Coffin Caves”. Peter Haughton says :.

A whole year (and some). | Chelsea Travels Far

https://chelseatravelsfar.wordpress.com/2013/12/02/a-whole-year-and-some

December 2, 2013. A whole year (and some). That’s right. It’s been over a year now (nearly 15 months. To be precise) since I strapped on a backpack and left the UK. What a year it’s been! 1 Yi Peng Lantern Festival, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Four magical days in which the energy and excitement of the city completely enthralled Katie and I. 2 An invitation for food, Banaue, Philippines. 3 Sleeping in the jungle, Chi Phat, Cambodia. Having trekked 16 km with heavy packs deep into the Cambodian jungle (read; cu...

(Like a cat nap, only it’s a nap for Nats). Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Machu Picchu is Amazing – Believe the Hype. Machu Picchu is Amazing – Believe the Hype. On January 14, 2014. Good day from Cusco,. Yesterday I had the distinct pleasure of making my way to Machu Picchu, Peru. If you love it, stay longer as the entrance fee is only $45 a day for us adults and it’s huge. Also, if you still have legs hike down aka take a bus up like a chairlift and hike down like you’re downhill skiing, sorta. PS: Truly an experience you’ll never forget. You may also like.
