Mystery Tour

The UCC chemical society has had mystery tours on and off over the past couple of years but this year we decided to revive it and give it a new theme. We had a great mix of people, from first years, to second years, 3rd and 4 years along with some postgraduate PhD students and some lads from economics'. Everyone should be looking forward to next year cause were going to make it even bigger and better, provisionally set for Jan 2010.

Science Week

This is the first year we have gotten involved with science week, and it went quite successfully. we held a raffle during the week and helped out with the primary schools science day in city hall. Science week was done with physics, and maths societies. Juilie Healy winner of the raffle.

1991: Chemical Society won Most Improved Society. 2007: Stephan Crowley (Auditor) won a Beni Merenti. 2009: Chemical Society won Most Improved Society. 2009: John O’Donoghue (PRO) won a Society Achievement Award (STAR award). The Chemical Society was also short listed for a few other awards including Best Academic society award and Best Small Society in 2009. UCC Chemical society has won awards only by the hard work of everyone involved over many years. Most Improved Society 2009.

The UCC chemical society had a very successful freshers fest and societies day signing up 188 people, a massive thank you goes out to everyone who helped out over both days, pictures are up in the societies page. The Next meeting will be on Thurs 24th of sept in Bearra, Top floor of the student centre. All pictures from this event will also be stored here:. Chemsoc extends a good luck to everyone doing their exams over the next few weeks. 09/10 Committee as elected at the AGM. Auditor: John O' Donoghue.

Chemistry Ball

The first ever Chemistry Ball took place on Thurs the 22nd of October, in the Gresham Metropole Hotel, Macurtain Street. A Full 4 course meal was supplied with the full tickets along with loads of free wine! The afters joined us around 10.30. The band Soda Stream rocked the room with brilliant air guitar swinging 80’s classics, at 10.30 till about 12.15, which was followed by DJ Dave Cuddy till the wee hours of the morning. Needless to say a good night was had by all,. Attendance on the night.
