Compost 101 | agri-curious

Curious about how things grow. I always wonder why they called composting black gold. Since having the chickens and adding their poop to our garden I truly see the wonders of composting. Along with the compost from my compost bin and the chicken poop, my garden was the best ever last summer. The dirt was just as black and loose as could be and the seedling grew so fast. So, where do we start. Do you have a compost bin? This entry was posted on January 29, 2012, in Uncategorized. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
It’s Sunday and Butter Day | agri-curious
https://agricurious.wordpress.com/2012/02/12/its-sunday-and-butter-day
Curious about how things grow. It’s Sunday and Butter Day. It’s Sunday and this is the day I always set aside to make my homemade butter. It becomes thicker than usual and begins to have a yellowish tint. At this point the mix is turning clumpy and turning a darker shade of yellow. Curious about how things grow. It’s got to be cabin fever! I’ve been so excited receiving the new seed catalogs in the mail, reading them from cover to cover and having those dreams of beautiful gardens. Last year I worked hard to maintain an organic garden. With the help of my girls (chickens) they were able to supply me with an abundance of wonder manure. Purchasing organic fertilizer became expensive but with the summer going by so quickly I did not take the time to look for an alternative. A suggesti...
A New Day | agri-curious
https://agricurious.wordpress.com/2012/01/22/a-new-day
Curious about how things grow. But in the meantime, I’ve decided to try planting some lettuce seed inside the house during these cold days of winter. I’ve prepared one of my plant pots with starter mix and also sphagnum moss. Sphagnum moss helps to cut down on fungus and the dying off of new seedlings. Four week seedlings growing in a starter seed mixture. This entry was posted on January 22, 2012, in Gardening. It’s a New Day! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
