The Klepto's Guide To Awesome Music: The Collection
http://thekleptosgtm.blogspot.com/p/collection.html
Weekly Dose of Prog. Ok you people out there. I have decided to try and put my mighty collection of bands (1758 at last count) and their albums (5474) into a list. Obviously it's a tremendous project and it's going to take me a few months to finish it all (if I ever do). Also I'm always acquiring new albums, so this list will never be 100% complete. Just sit back and enjoy my efforts at wasting time. Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel. Les Claypool's Frog Brigade. Afrika Bambaataa and Soulsonic Force.

The Klepto's Guide To Awesome Music: New Album: Black Stone Cherry - Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea
http://thekleptosgtm.blogspot.com/2011/06/new-album-black-stone-cherry-between.html
Weekly Dose of Prog. Thursday, June 16, 2011. New Album: Black Stone Cherry - Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea. I'm a tad apprehensive listening to Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea. Latest album; their debut. Was amazing, completely top-notch southern stoner metal. It was full of creative songs, powerful is story and vocals, with some amazing instruments to match. The followup, Folklore And Superstition. I used to think I liked Black Stone Cherry but after songs like this one. For me, it's ...

Phildel – The Disappearance of the Girl | Monkey Defies Gravity
https://monkeydefiesgravity.wordpress.com/2013/04/03/phildel-the-disappearance-of-the-girl
It's all about the heavy… except when it isn't. Phildel – The Disappearance of the Girl. Pop loves the female voice and so do I. Yet so many modern ladies of pop, even at its outer fringes, are just so dull,. Powerful pipes but no. I tend to binge on female vocalists (not like that,. And my latest addiction is Phildel and her debut. The Disappearance of the Girl. Yes, there are clear nods to Kate Bush (. Whose gorgeous piano lines evoke Yann Tiersen) and Bat for Lashes at her most spectral (. Sounds awfu...

Inter Arma – Sky Burial | Monkey Defies Gravity
https://monkeydefiesgravity.wordpress.com/2013/03/28/inter-arma-sky-burial
It's all about the heavy… except when it isn't. Inter Arma – Sky Burial. Some bands just get it. Inter Arma have been building towards a wonderful record and this most definitely is it. It’s bleak and it’s beautiful. At turns joyously uplifting, at others crushingly heavy. I’m fucking enchanted. Black metal and Pink Floyd are stirred in equal parts through soaring psychedelic sludge. To create something unique and utterly compelling. The Long Road Home. Build slowly into absolutely shattering climaxes.

The Klepto's Guide To Awesome Music: Top 20 of 2010: 1 - 5
http://thekleptosgtm.blogspot.com/2010/12/top-20-of-2010-1-5.html
Weekly Dose of Prog. Monday, December 27, 2010. Top 20 of 2010: 1 - 5. These lists aren't in a real order, it was too much effort just to get the list to 20, let alone order it in some fashion. It's all in alphabetic order; that's how I like it, that's how I'm keeping it. 1 Airbourne - No Guts. No Glory. Does it again. Another balls-to-the-wall 80s throwback rock and roll classic. While not as groundbreaking as their first, Runnin' Wild. No Guts. No Glory. 2 Amplifier - The Octopus. The Englishmen detach...

The Klepto's Guide To Awesome Music: New Band: KONG!
http://thekleptosgtm.blogspot.com/2011/06/new-band-kong.html
Weekly Dose of Prog. Monday, June 27, 2011. Wow, this band is a punch in the face. I've been listening to a lot of classic and alternative rock lately and switching to something this heavy and crushing was a bit of a surprise. KONG! Is a group hailing from North Carolina which seems to want to bring the balls back to underground metal. As far as I can tell, Mind Eraser. Moving from above, the band's sound reminds me more of early Lamb of God. Or Kingdom of Sorrow. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Klepto's Guide To Awesome Music: Update
http://thekleptosgtm.blogspot.com/2011/06/update.html
Weekly Dose of Prog. Sunday, June 26, 2011. Yes, I am still here, and I have every intention of coming back. First, now that I've had a break, I'm going to try and get at least sort of caught up with all of the albums I've been sent by The Ripple Effect. I've started getting the writing itch, which is good, it's what I want. A return of the want to write would be grande for me at this point. And Captain Beyond Zen. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
