Saturday, May 10, 2008. With a four day weekend at our disposal, we headed south to Talca. Talconians have a phrase: "Talca, Paris y Londres." Monday, February 25, 2008. My favorite town in Chile. Valapraíso holds a special place in my heart, but Puerto Varas is the bomb! At first glance, it's another cute town with a lake and a volcano, but it also exudes charm, has funky architecture, diverse shopping, easy access to nature (see my next posting on Cochamó) and, well, you just have to see it! Friday, August 24, 2007. Life is good here in Chile. Just wanted to post some photos of Valparaíso (1st two photos) and Viña del Mar. On Thursday I savored an Escudo (my beer de momento) in Viña at an outdoor café by the ocean and tomorrow I'll be returning to Valpo. PS-Click on the photos for better detail. Jack and Jo in Chile. What we've been up to lately. We've been pretty busy since we got back from our summer trip in February. Our German friends Thomas and Kathryn, who we bumped into various times while we were traveling, came to stay with us in Vina for a few days, before heading north. We stayed in a cabin at the rustic and whimsical Cabanas Hermansen with a group of friends to celebrate Margaret's 29th birthday ( wink wink. Jack and Jo in Chile. A Day in Horcon. Then we headed to Horcon, a small coastal town best known for its hippie community and nude beaches, but also well known for its incredible empanada and seafood restaurants. We ordered a round of jaiba and queso empanadas (crab and cheese), which run about $2 each. Delicious! After the meal we headed to Playa Cau Cau to watch the sun set.
