Saturday, March 15th. As much as I didn't want to do because it is so stereotypical, I did after all pay my 2 dirhams (about 25 cents) to take a photo of one of the cobras, but I DID NOT pay to have one draped around my neck - no thank you! Debrief, Chellah, Shopping (Finally), and THE FAREWELL DINNER. Friday, March 21st. We visited the medieval ruins of Chella, built by the Romans and abandoned in 1154. The area was also inhabited by Phoenicians and Carthaginians. Among the ruins, particularly on the minaret, are many storks' nests and you can hear their bills clacking as you wander through the ruins. Finally did some shopping in the Rabat medina. New Info, Henna, Hassan, and the Marathon Meal. Monday, March 10th. I've also made everyone think I'm a total weirdo by not drinking the mint tea that is so ubiquitous here (as I don't drink coffee or tea), but so far I don't think I've offended anyone too badly, and a few times I've taken the cup offered and simply not drunk it. Co-Teaching With Bouchaib Mifdal, Couscous, Playing Dress-Up, and a Tour of El Jadida. Friday, March 14th. Lunch at Bouchaib's home for the lunch, which was the traditional Friday couscous. While this photo shows plates laid out for us as visitors, they were soon taken away and we used the spoons to all eat out of the same dish.
