Chopsticks and Pearls

Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Be still my heart. Galveston has such fun memories for me as a kid. We had a beach house in this same neighborhood and came down almost every weekend. It was so fun to bring Avery down for the first time and show James our old stopping grounds. I can't wait for more beach trips in the future! Homegirl wasn't so sure about the sand in her toes! This was about 2 hours before the "plague" hit her, so I'm going to reserve any comments about being little miss priss. I only wish I had ta...

Chopsticks and Pearls: My First Mother's Day

http://chopsticksandpearls.blogspot.com/2011/05/my-first-mothers-day.html

Monday, May 9, 2011. My First Mother's Day. Avery Bear and I on Easter Sunday. I'm going to start this post by pretending that I've been posting rather frequently and everyone is caught up with the Lee Family.which I know is a big fat lie. :) The thought of trying to recap the craziness of the past few months of our life makes me want to curl up in a ball and take a nap. It was the best Mother's Day present I could have ever asked for! I don't want to get tooo ahead of myself on my first post back. It wa...

http://chopsticksandpearls.blogspot.com/2010/09/happy-birthday-chops.html

Monday, September 13, 2010. Happy Birthday, Chops! So Chops turned the big 3-0 last week.and Lady Liberty made him a little homemade birthday card. Besides the birthday card.she gave him the best present ever. SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! Avery now sleeps for an 8 hour stretch! I've been putting her down between 10-11PM and she wakes up between 6-7AM. :) She litterally started this on his birthday. Fingers crossed that 8 hours turns into 10 hours soon! PS Does anyone have any tips for uploading pictures?

Chopsticks and Pearls: The Nursery

http://chopsticksandpearls.blogspot.com/2010/09/nursery.html

Monday, September 20, 2010. Because it’s a pretty small room, I had to take the doors off the closet so the crib would fit.  I really wanted the crib to be on the far wall.  James helped me make the cornice above the closet.  I picked out fabric and my grandmother sewed the curtains.  I wanted simple white bedding too! 160; I couldn’t find anything in my price range, so I emailed a vendor on etsy and she made exactly what I wanted for a fraction of the price! 160; :) . 160; It’s sooo hard to find a...

finger lickin' good: A is for AmeLia

http://kristin-klf.blogspot.com/2012/10/a-is-for-amelia.html

Tuesday, October 9, 2012. A is for AmeLia. In honor of miss amelia turning one. We had a birthday party. The theme was ABC. The food was simple {especially since i botched the pencil cupcake pops}. Goldfish, cupcakes, candy, homemade pretzel bites. It took millie approximately two seconds to discover that the cupcake was the tastiest thing she'd ever eaten. then she devoured it. Lots of fun babies and big kids came to help celebrate. It was a great day celebrating our baby girl. Happy birthday amelia ann!

Your adornment must not be merely external - braiding of the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God." - 1 Peter 3:3-4.

Feels Like Home: April 2012

http://austinassuntos.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 9, 2012. A couple weekends ago we got to relax and get out of town. We had a great time away with Ryan's mom, brother, sister-in-law, and our nephew, Levi. We rented a house on VRBO and it was perfect. It was located in the middle of Houston but on 7 acres of land with horses and chickens. lots of room for the kids to play and for us all to be outside, soaking up the beautiful spring weather. Monday, April 2, 2012. Bluebonnets, take one! They turned out well. don't you think?

Feels Like Home: Transitions...

http://austinassuntos.blogspot.com/2012/10/transitions.html

Monday, October 15, 2012. Hello again, to the three family members who still check the blog! It's been a chaotic summer and beginning of fall for us. In the last several months, we sold our home, moved into a friend's house and then into a neighbor's house as we wait to move into our new (actually older) home! At the end of August, Blythe turned 2! Now I'll let the pictures do the talking (they are way out of order). The beginning of the chaos. Avery, Blythe, and Charlie. now 2! Summer cook out. Playin...

Wednesday, July 20, 2011. This is what happens when grandma is on duty. Thursday, July 7, 2011. Feels Like Home: Dress Up

http://austinassuntos.blogspot.com/2012/11/dress-up.html

Monday, November 5, 2012. I'm trying to be better about regular blogging. Yay! Here's a quick update on our fam. We took Blythe to her very first Texas Aggie football game. The Ags took on the LSU Tigers, and Ryan has a lot of family and family friends from Louisiana, so this was a special game for us. B had an absolute blast. I think we were both shocked at how much she loved the crowd and the energy in the stadium. Knox was the ring bearer (hello, perfect! Blythe with the STUNNING bride and groom.

Feels Like Home: October 2011

http://austinassuntos.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 17, 2011. Blythe took her maiden voyage to the motherland this weekend- College Station, Texas. ATM played Baylor, and we attend an annual tailgate but don't actually go to the game. This year the Sales came along because Stacie graduated from Baylor. It was fun to show them one of our favorite towns and get to walk around campus, which we hadn't done in quite a while. Blythe at the Pi Phi House! Taking a break in the AC at Rudder. The MSC is under major construction. who knew? Good thing...

Chopsticks & Hockeysticks

Its no secret that Chris and I are both HUGE fans of sushi. Even while living in Minneapolis we frequented the Byerly's Sushi Bar several times each week. Needless to say, the sushi in Japan is FANFREAKINGTABULOUS. (go figure, right? Chris and I go to our favorite sushi restaurant in Tomakomai at least several times each week. Its going to be emotional when we have to say good bye to our sushi chef friends. A picture of the two different types of Maki. Taka couldn't wait for the sushi to be done.so h...

Chopsticks and Mango

I'm sorry to say, but there is nothing quite like phở gà in Việt Nam. I've made it at home, I've eaten it in a couple dozen restaurants, yet there is nothing quite the same. I'm not sure what the difference is- otherwise, I could make it myself! But certain things make it closer to the original. Basil, garlic, chilis, nuoc mam and limes are key accoutrements. Despite my lack of enthusiasm for the homemade variety, you should try Andrea Nguyen's recipe. If you can't find it locally. Boil some water in a t...

Chopsticks and Other Theories. Monday, September 27, 2010. No I don't. This is what a mall directory looks like:. Look That's a HUGE picture hahah. There's even smiley men standing next to it. Maybe they'll give you a tour of the mall. Because I sure will not. Unless you're going to pay me over minimum wage. Because that's what I'm getting to stand here and smile. New blog, New School Year. Yay! August 24, 2013. I haven’t been great at keeping up our other blog: bringingyufenhome.wordpress.com. I want to talk about all the goings on in our family. This is partly so I can remember everything. Wednesday was the girls first day of school and my first day of strange freedom. Chopsticks and String is the sister site to The Marmelade Gypsy and features mostly book reviews (and a few other random thoughts along the way! Tuesday, March 31, 2015. This post originally appeared on my primary blog, The Marmelade Gypsy. On March 9, 2015). I'm not sure why (now that it's March) I am doing the 2014 Reading Wrap, except that I said I would - and a few have said they were waiting for it! I probably started this post about the time these photos were taken! Not quite, but it seems like it!
