長八 本名 入江長八 は、乾道、又は天祐と号し、文化12年 1815 8月5日に伊豆国松崎村明地の農家の長男として生まれました。

이즈노 쵸하치(본명:이리에 쵸하치)는 칸도우, 또는 텐유라 칭해지며, 분카 12년. 1815)8월5일 이즈노쿠니 마츠자키무라 묘우치의 농가에 태어나, 부친 성명은 헤이스케, 모친 성명은 테고 라고 한다. 소년시절 이 곳 텐칸지(쵸하치 기념관)에서 학문을 배우고, 12세 경까지 자란다. 그 때의 주직은 제13세이샤쿠쇼우칸 이라고 한다. 12세에 동 마을 미장이 십장인 세키 니스케의 제자로 들어간다. 23세에 에도로 나가 그림을 카노우파의 키타 타케키요에게 배워 회반죽으로 그림을 그리고, 어떤 것은 조소에 색채를 더해서 마침내 쵸하치 특유의 예술을 완성시킨다. 31세 경인 코오카 2년(1845) 텐칸지의 재건축에 있어서 배우고 키워준 보은의 하나로써 은혜에 보답하는 생각을 담아서 본당내진(본존을 안치하는 곳), 천장의 백룡을 시작으로 천녀 등 몇 가지 역작을 남긴다. 메이지22년(1889)10월8일, 향년 75세로 세상을 떠난다. 사세구 나의 가을이여 아름다운 달 밤까지도 빠짐없이 보고 가노라.
