Thursday, March 22, 2007. The food is bland; the showers are cold. For a couple days, we had warm showers! And then the electric wire started sparking and popping, which is scary in any circumstance, but especially scary if you are the one standing under the shower. So we disconnected the apparatus, and my few warm showers are but a memory. I went to a church Sunday with a gringo pastor, and his wife invited me to dinner tonight. So I get pizza and brownies for the first time in months. Yahooo!

Friday, May 4, 2007. Endearing trait of Nicas: quirky habit of pointing w/ lips. Can you picture that in your mind? A 13-year old high-energy adolescent simultaneously using his lips to point, to speak a heavily accented Creole English, and to give a fiendish smirk. It is one of my life's regrets that I forgot to take my camera or videocam to Bluefields. Johnny's talents need to be digitally documented. I too remember the lip pointing with fondness. Great post!
