CHRIS FOX | Charlotte
http://chrisfox.com.au/charlotte
The experience of this work is a ‘perceptual surprise’ characteristic of Fox’s work and also an invitation to think through issues of commodity, function and volition. Through the simplest of gestures or, from the clearest of transitions: horizontal to vertical, a form and its associated meanings and values is once again, thrown into a poetic crisis and consequent fertility. ESSAY: Alchemy and Perception: The Practice of Chris Fox, by Shaun Gladwell, 2003.

I CAN DRAW YOU A PICTURE: ICDYAP @ Liveworks 2010

ICDYAP @ Liveworks 2010. The second ICDYAP installation, the 'ICDYAP building lab,' was part of Performance Space's Liveworks Festival in November 2010. The post-apocalyptic theme saw participants take on the role of survivors tasked with rebuilding the New World out of rubbish we had personally collected and colour-coded. Issue 2 of ICDYAP, an A1 poster, documents the results of the installation and is accompanied by fictional stories set in the New World. Below are the blog records of this project.

The Artswipe: June 2009

Crash parties, not buildings. Friday, June 26, 2009. Apology to Roadkill Redux. Series, 2009 and ongoing. I'm back from the dead dear readers, as is my new series Rat. Which I shot while holidaying in Venice. Here's a taste of things to come. It's a deep work and speaks to notions of sociotemporality, as does all. Thursday, June 04, 2009. Head Up My Arse or Dead in the Arse. I can't decide. The Artswipe is taking a holiday from blogging for now. I'll be back when the air has cleared, I promise.
The Artswipe: July 2008

Crash parties, not buildings. Thursday, July 24, 2008. It has come to my attention that curator Anthony (Ace) Bourke. Who has carved out a long and distinguished career working with contemporary indigenous artists like the late Michael Riley. Among others, and who has curated exhibitions at the Museum of Sydney. State Library of NSW. And Hazelhurst Regional Gallery. Was a "lion tamer" of sorts in a, let's say, past life of sorts. Ace Bourke, Christian and John Rendall. Why aren't all curators this cool!

Crash parties, not buildings. Tuesday, May 27, 2008. Atomic: Full of Love, Full of Wonder. Installation at Casula Powerhouse. Has been a nervous mess of late - all this Bill Henson talk has made me quite twitchy, aware that any minute a huge tsunami of repression could wash over a population of stupid masses who are happily drowning in their self-perpetuating hysteria. Grow up Australia! Is pissed off - his movie. Is about to come out and he probably thought he was tapping into something that had never b...
