Christine's Blog: Bookr: Another way to Extend Literacy Skills

http://www.christine-wolf.blogspot.com/2011/04/bookr-another-way-to-extend-literacy.html

Monday, April 11, 2011. Bookr: Another way to Extend Literacy Skills. Since I aim to teach elementary age students and am working on my Master's in the Literacy Specialist program, I think a great way to use Bookr would be to have students create a story in one of two ways. Another activity that would be interesting would be to create a Bookr with different photos and have the students add text. This would require them to be creative in thinking of ideas, but maintain a storyline at the same time. Web To...

Monday, April 25, 2011. The possibilities are endless with site. I am even more excited to have my own classroom of students to share this unique opportunity with. I think that the Skype feature would be an excellent way for classrooms to connect. Of course, a lot of prep would be required in order to make the Skype sessions useful, but that would be where a lot of learning would occur. April 26, 2011 at 6:13 AM. Tech Reflect: Using Podcasts in the Classroom

http://edutechreflections.blogspot.com/2011/05/using-podcasts-in-classroom-mod-12.html

Monday, May 2, 2011. Using Podcasts in the Classroom. Take Seth Meyer's recent remarks at the White House Correspondent's Dinner. For example. Surely, this example is a combination of humor and political registry, but listen from the perspective of an ELL and you'll quickly realize how his comments sound like they come from an entirely new language in itself. That's why I'd love to use this podcast. Posted by Kristin Cash. May 3, 2011 at 11:52 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Web Tools for Teaching.

Friday, April 8, 2011. Mod11: eMails, ePals and so much more! When I first heard about ePals, I was excited about the idea of the opportunity my student would have to be able to "write" to their own personal ePal. What I didn't realize is how much MORE ePals has to offer. After exploring the site, I think it is am amazing teacher resource and very user friendly. If your heart is now pumping with excitement, you are not alone. But lets not wait any longer to check it out here! April 11, 2011 at 8:34 AM.

There was an error in this gadget. Saturday, April 30, 2011. Podcasting in Language Classroom. Yesterday was the big day for England. It seems that people are crazy about royal wedding. Therefore, I have found this episode: World News for School: 28th, April, 2011. On BBC World News for Children. When was the royal wedding? What people are crazy about the wedding? Why this day is special for the world? What celebrity attended the wedding? What people did in England to celebrate the wedding? E-Pal is a gr...

Thursday, April 7, 2011. Mod9-2: I wonder if. I wonder if. people know how EASY it is to create a fun comic strip in BUBBLR? Well I now know just how easy it really is. Check it out here. I think it would be a lot of fun for the kids to look at. The pictures are so wonderful, I think it will really capture their attention. I wonder if. others will enjoy my creation? Bubblr would be a good tool to have the students use for various types of projects too. April 9, 2011 at 6:20 AM. Text vs. Tech. A young 20 ...

Sunday, April 24, 2011. After doing some exploring on the ePals website, I noticed a few extremely useful features that I'd love to incorporate into my classroom. Feature #1: Collaborate Search by Country. It takes authenticity of learning to an entirely new level. Teachers Community Media See Teacher Work Teacher Spotlight Projects. Posted by Kristin Cash. The collaboration sounds extremely useful in order to make topics authentic and personal. April 25, 2011 at 7:07 AM. Help with English slang.

Tech Reflect: March 2011

http://edutechreflections.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 11, 2011. Twitter is an interesting extension of some of my previous discussions of how social networking can be used in the classroom and for professional development. On the surface, it's got a lot of the same features as other social networking sites: you can connect with people from all over the world, share thoughts and ideas, develop an online identity, learn how to evaluate source validity, and have fun. She makes two important points defending Twitter:. You don't have to 'dive-in&#4...

Experimental Blogging 590: February 2011

Saturday, February 12, 2011. Mod4-2: A Facebook-like teaching tool.ahhhhh! While reading about Ning in our text my blood literally starting pumping. My brain started buzzing just. Thinking of all the ways it could be used. I, like many other people, am quite addicted to FB, and just thinking that there is something out there that can be used professionally is simply EXCITING(for lack of a more appropriate term, you will see this word a lot in this posting)! Experimental Blogging 590: Tweet...Tweet...Tweet...

http://experimentalblogging590.blogspot.com/2011/03/tweettweettweet.html

Monday, March 7, 2011. The world of micro-blogging, 140 characters or less… that is smaller than a text. How can this tool possibly be useful within the classroom? Although I signed up for Twitter over two years ago, I rarely ever used it, simply because I felt like there was no purpose. However, after reviewing how useful it can be as a resource and also as a classroom tool, I guess you can say I have seen the “twight”? Micro-blogging allows for constant, quick interaction and feedback, live! Lets be re...

There was an error in this gadget. Friday, April 22, 2011. E-Pal is a great tool for students have the opportunity to use the language they learned and learn with other students. By working cooperatively, they can both share their own culture and learn other culture. Thanks to technology, students can communicate and learn with e-pals with email and discussion forum. It would be an exciting learning experience. Yes, I think that such connections could be quite motivating! April 24, 2011 at 7:47 AM.

Or are we going to talk about how much do we believe in “life is like a box of chocolates”? Yes, I am addicted to all kinds of chocolate but A Box of Chocolate.
