http://christopherdhall.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
This Side of the Pulpit. What the world looks like from here. Sunday, November 30, 2008. What I Learned when I Wrote a Novel in One Month. One of my earliest memories is of dictating a story to my mother. This was before I could read or write. She remembers many of these stories. I tried to write a fantasy novel in sixth grade. When the class was watching Ghandi. I was writing a pathetic rip-off of Lord of the Rings. In class or what we were supposed to get out of it. Second, it's work. My hands hurt...

This Side of the Pulpit. What the world looks like from here. Thursday, January 29, 2009. Wish Dreams and Lutheranism: Part III. What follows are a series of posts regarding the possibilities of taking "Weedon's Wish Dream" and making it reality. Remember (especially my members), that while I am very sympathetic to 99% of what the Wish Dream was, I'm just talkin' right now. DO feel free to make suggestions of pros and cons that I may have missed. Third, the great cry of pedagogy (teach 'em) only works fo...

This Side of the Pulpit. What the world looks like from here. Monday, June 30, 2008. Pew Forum's U.S. Religious Landscape Survey. The survey (breathtaking in scope) was released last week. You can view all kinds of interesting stats and download the whole thing here. I created a little spreadsheet to compare various denomination's results on questions that I was particularly interested in. There are some interesting trends. The questions I looked at in particular were:. Literal Interpretation of Scripture.

This Side of the Pulpit. What the world looks like from here. Friday, April 24, 2009. Where Did This Come From? Two churches on a small Grecian island have the tradition of firing rockets at each other on Easter morning. Http:/ news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8007506.stm. The video there is short, with quiet audio and is amazing! Rev Eric J Brown. April 24, 2009 at 7:27 AM. Rev Eric J Brown. My wife heard my comment and she said, "There you go, trying to start another flame war.". Locals are not sure of...

Digital Grasshopper: Restorations
http://digitalgrasshopper-jolene.blogspot.com/2010/10/restorations.html
Monday, October 11, 2010. Last month, we were asked by two clients to restore and make copies of old photographs. I love being able to preserve special images. I know how much our old family photographs mean to me. The first challenge was a high school class picture that had been mounted on artboard and the names of everyone in the picture written beneath it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Digital Grasshopper: The Old West
http://digitalgrasshopper-jolene.blogspot.com/2011/04/old-west.html
Thursday, April 7, 2011. A few months ago, Wess created a portrait for his personal project wall here at the studio. The subject was a local businessman who conducts tours of Enid's downtown in western attire. I decided to try some new techniques with the final image and came up with a "wanted poster" look. Digital Grasshopper: April 2009
http://digitalgrasshopper-jolene.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 10, 2009. A good friend recently gave me the opportunity to create a special piece using individual pictures of five members of his family who had served in the military. He gave me the five images to scan, a quotation to include and a request to incorporate the U.S. flag. Beyond that, I had carte blanche. This was a privilege to do and we were both pleased with the final image. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Wess Gray Raconteur of Portrait Photography. The Grays Facebook page.

This Side of the Pulpit. What the world looks like from here. The Other Reason to Go to Church. March 9, 2017. Why do Pastors want you to go to Church every Sunday? If you have no sins to confess or be forgiven, if you are spiritually mature and strong, if you know all things, if you have no need for this meal–even if all these things are true, come to Divine Service for the rest of us. We miss you. Go to the Top. Saints, Cubs, and Preaching to the Preacher. November 7, 2016. Pastors preach to themselves...
