Hither, Thither and Yon: The Beginning of Grace

Hither, Thither and Yon. In Him, we live and move and have our being. The Beginning of Grace. Getting a new computer has meant sorting through some old files and making my new hard drive is neat and orderly. In doing so, I came across this from a year ago sitting in an ". What was God thinking when He created Adam? As He stooped to form each limb, each finger, each toe, what did He feel? As the Creator molded eyes, ears and lips, what did He think about? If I truly believe that God is. He saw His own Son...

Hither, Thither and Yon: Things I've Gotten Used To
http://hitherthitheryon.blogspot.com/2009/07/things-ive-gotten-used-to.html
Hither, Thither and Yon. In Him, we live and move and have our being. Things I've Gotten Used To. Here is a list I started compiling a while ago of different things that I realized would be different when I got home. Not an exhaustive list, just ones I encountered and thought "Huh" at the time and, of course, remembered to type up when I got home. Now that I am home here it is. Please do note that some of these are not meant to be read while you are eating, especially if you are of the squeamish variety.

Hither, Thither and Yon. In Him, we live and move and have our being. Sustain - Thoughts from Communion/Baptism Service. So many prayers these last few weeks to sustain:. A son whose mother has gone home to the Lord. A sister whose brother is dying from the same disease that took her father. A family whose little unborn girl is not forming correctly within the womb. A woman whose sister has turned her back on God and embraced a sinful life. Let us love and sing and wonder. Let us praise the Savior's name.

Hither, Thither and Yon. In Him, we live and move and have our being. Get Around, Get Around, We Get Around. Please note that this was written several weeks ago and I am just now getting the chance to post it. I have since changed apartments and no longer have the wonderful sights I am about to describe. But I do have similar sights, to fill later posts. My street is by no means a busy street, but there is a steady stream of traffic. What do I see? My new apartment is on the sixth floor and does not have...

Hither, Thither and Yon: The Effects of Winter
http://hitherthitheryon.blogspot.com/2009/02/effects-of-winter.html
Hither, Thither and Yon. In Him, we live and move and have our being. The Effects of Winter. So instead of posting again on the coldness of cold weather, here is a smattering of observations that have happened as a result of winter. It will be a little while longer before I can go walk the streets of Hailar and gather fun and interesting experiences to post on. Ever see “You’ve Got Mail”? No, this is not going to turn into a confessional where I blab all of the stupid things I have watched out of the cou...

Hither, Thither and Yon. In Him, we live and move and have our being. So you want to eat some meat tonight? How many of you Americans actually thought about the meat that you eat? That it is the flesh of an animal, an animal that was once moving and making noise? Please understand that I have nothing against vegetarians; I just really love my meat. I say this having not only thought about the slaughter of the animals I eat, but also having seen said slaughter. How could you be so callused? I will still e...

Hither, Thither and Yon. In Him, we live and move and have our being. Cacophony of the Soul. Why did God give it to us? Have we ever felt a pure single emotion that isn’t complicated by other ones? I don’t know the answer to the first two questions, but I will venture an answer for the last one. No I have never had a moment where there was only one emotion beating in my heart. But what do we do when our heart is hosting The Vienna Boys Choir instead of The Charlie Daniels Band? A group of emotions are al...

Hither, Thither and Yon: How To Buy a Skillet in China

Hither, Thither and Yon. In Him, we live and move and have our being. How To Buy a Skillet in China. Second, you start looking at the pots and pans available. The store owner will soon catch on that this is what you are looking for and will start pulling out options from hitherto unseen nooks. Fifth, the lady rummages through one last pile before you leave and pulls out…a skillet. Nod your head vigorously, point frantically and say “Yes, yes, yes! 8221; or “What is it? Eighth, smile happily once the lid ...

Jolly Holly: "Profound" thoughts and life lessons from "ordinary" experiences: July 2008
http://jollyhollers.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Jolly Holly: "Profound" thoughts and life lessons from "ordinary" experiences. Profound" thoughts and life lessons from ordinary experiences that have shaped me. Tuesday, July 29, 2008. What is your name? What is your name? Jesus asks this to a demon possessed man in the book of Mark. Lately, I have been pondering the questions that Jesus asks in the gospels. Why does he ask them? What is he getting at? And how would I respond? So why does Jesus ask this? How do I see and define myself? In Paul's letters...
