Configure outgoing mail on Debian using Exim through Verizon. January 6, 2013. When trying to configure my Debian (wheezy) machine to forward its mail to outside addresses I followed several guides but nothing was working. After some debugging I realized that Verizon must block requests to external SMTP ports (25). When googling this issue I found that indeed Verizon does block 25 therefore you need to use their SMTP servers to forward any local mail. Debian Wiki: Gmail and Exim4. December 20, 2012.
