Corporate Anthropology: Expediting Contextual Inquiry
http://phillipkarren.blogspot.com/2005/02/expediting-contextual-inquiry.html
Tuesday, February 08, 2005. As I mentioned in the preceeding posts, Allen's engineering team had learned about CI from the Word Perfect people and had decided to try it out. He recruited a handful of people to get the training and become instant ethnographers. Dennis, from Word Perfect, had developed a tight relationship with Karen, and understood the process well enough to train the team. Being a skunk works project, the team only had money for trips within the contiguous 48 U.S. states. The...For each ...

Sneaky Marmot: Go Sit on a Mountain
http://sneakymarmot.blogspot.com/2005/03/go-sit-on-mountain.html
Saturday, March 26, 2005. Go Sit on a Mountain. For something different, try a day hermitage. Spend the better part of a day up on the mountain, instead of getting up in and then down again. You'll be surprised at how different the trek is when you savor the day from the top. Just make sure not to be hit by lightning. I tried a day hermitage for the first time just over a year ago. At the time, I was living in the north end of Utah Valley, and had wanted to summit Box Elder Peak. I'm a marketing consulta...

They wanted to know how to improve user account management functions in the administrative console for NetWare 4. They conducted about 16 interviews in the contiguous U.S. states. They finished their work just before Novell's annual Brainshare con...
