Ciao Andiamo: February 2012
http://ciaoandiamo.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Emily and George's Italian Honeymoon. Today is Valentine's Day, and I can't think of a better time to share the story of two recent newlyweds- Emily and George- a truly wonderful couple whose honeymoon I had the pleasure of planning last October. And that's exactly what they got. Emily and George spent their first couple of days in Rome, seeing the sites, touring the Vatican with one of our fantastic guides, and savoring all the local Roman cuisine. And then to Positano - wher...

Thursday, December 20, 2012. Joseph and Irene: Uniting a Family in Puglia. We have so many wonderful traveler stories to share from this past year. One of the most special- and fitting for the holiday season- is a story about Joseph (85 years young) and his wife Irene, from upstate New York. Joseph's parents had been born in the late 19th century in Italy, outside of Bari, Puglia. Although Joseph and Irene had visited Italy a number of times, they had never before been to the place of Joseph's roots.

Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Pasta, Parmigiana and Tiramisù: Favorite Family Recipes from Umbria. This March, we hosted another series of Italian Cooking Parties in New York, led by the lovely chef Cristiana. She made a special trip all the way from Umbria, bringing with her some mouth-watering family recipes from the Old Country. We're excited to share with you a few of Cristiana's signature dishes: a primo. First, the primo. A dish called gnocchetti 'collescipolani'. A variation of gnocchi. 188; of an onion.

Thursday, October 13, 2011. Tasting the Wines of Piemonte. Last week, Ciao Andiamo was excited to team up with. A boutique wine retailer in NYC), for a tasting tour of the wonderful wines of Piemonte. And what would be a wine tasting without some cheese and treats? To balance the rich flavors of the Piemonte reds, we served up grissini. We had a wonderful turnout, with a packed house and the event going strong right up until the last pour, so grazie mille. To all who could attend! For the excellent line-...

Wednesday, December 14, 2011. This December, we were thrilled to host a series of pizza-making events led by Michele Iuliano. Master pizzaiolo and owner of three of our favorite Italian eateries in NYC: Luzzo's. And some of Italy's most mouth-watering pizza creations. Here's a look back at the cooking demonstration, and Michele's top Neapolitan pizza-making tips. It All Starts with the Dough. Use Only the Best Neapolitan Ingredients. The Oven is the Key Final Step. A different kind of oven will make a di...

365 days of California. This Cali Girl’s Story. Italy, Day 12: We go home. We just got back from a eleven day trip to Italy. I’ll be posting my travel journal entry, along with photos from each day. Rome was quiet at 6am! Our driver picked us up at 6:30AM and took us to the airport for a 9:30AM flight. It was sad to say goodbye to Italy (so sad I almost cried! But we were excited to see Hoffy, eat some salads, and wear a clean pair of pants! Greenland from the sky. Laundry… but worth it! We will miss you...

Tuesday, November 29, 2011. An Italian Olive Harvest (in pictures). Fall is one of the most magnificent times to visit Italy: the cool, crisp weather; fewer tourists in the city streets; seasonal smells of truffles and roasted chestnuts. And, one of the greatest highlights, the olive harvest. It is a time when olive oil is first pressed, and local olive groves open up to visitors ( frantoi aperti. The years of fun. We've been serving up our expertise to discerning restauranteers in scenic locations for more than a decade - and by "expertise," we mean "opinion." We wanted to say that we've been putting the miles into smiles, but that sounded more like we are comedians rather than foodies on a mission to make people get the most out of their food. The best Rainbow Cake recipe for a rainy day. We're working on it.

bonjour. guten tag. ciao.
Bonjour. guten tag. ciao. Friday, April 25, 2008. We went first to Sant Chappell church. It's claim to fame is the architecture that allowed huge walls of stained glass windows. The colors were incredible, but it was hard to see the images in the glass. They were so small and went so high. They are supposed to tell various stories from the Bible. I did see Moses being put in a basket in the Nile. To be honest, Notre Dame was not quite what I expected. The front was more. Thursday, April 24, 2008. It is s...
