On Saturday 12th May Dr. Glenroy Taitt, resident historian from the West Indiana and Special Collections Division hosted a seminar on working with maps for post graduate history students. On Saturday after a good work out session at the gym, I decided to dash to the mall to get some stuff quickly. There in the belly of the mall was a Comic book exhibition with artists, enthusiasts and collectors buzzing around tables. I have seen this event almost annually and I always ask the question: "Do you have any local comic books? A future exhibition on graphic novels!

I did an information literacy session with students who are doing a course on steelpan literature. Avatar, Flickr and facebook featured int he presentation. Moment" and came up with the idea of having them create bibliographic entries to do this. So how do you teach, non librarians to do bibliographic records on datasheets and make it interesting at the same time? I await the bib records to come!

This morning I woke up only to see one of my colleagues from the UWI on the front page of the newspapers being lifted out of the Environmental Management Authority building. Dr Wayne Kublalsingh has been an environmental activists taking up the cause of the smelter plant in La Brea, Trinidad among others and now he is trying to divert a highway being built through Point Fortin. The Main Library received a rare manuscript entitled "Forty-seven years a public servant 1885-1932" written by Percy L. Fraser at. This item was donated by Mr. Adrian Camps Campin. And the family of Mr. Percy Fraser. The hand over took place at the Readers Bookshop in St. James where a recent publication emanating. From this item was launched. Digitization of the Michael Goldberg Collection.
