Brain Ambulations: Spring
http://brain-ambulations.blogspot.com/2014/04/spring.html
Wednesday, April 16, 2014. I can now safely say winter is over. Apparently this was a really severe winter so that's not so bad. Other than running out of firewood I didn't find it bad. And I knew going in I didn't really have enough wood. That said, it was awesome to enjoy my first real winter in years. There are seven lambs in the barn. Friendly couldn't look after three so we have one in the house. And yeah, they are way cuter in person. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Trixie Takes a Trip. Complet...

Brain Ambulations: April 2012
http://brain-ambulations.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 28, 2012. I had a pleasant day at the cottage today. I did have three attempts on my life however. Three female assasins tried to make my death look like an accident on the road. Or maybe there is some truth to the rumour that women can't drive? I had a pleasant day at the cottage today. Perfect working weather and I got a lot done without working hard. The cottage you ask? So what did I get done? Saturday, April 14, 2012. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Trixie Takes a Trip. Not Another Berna...

Brain Ambulations: May 2013
http://brain-ambulations.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 16, 2013. I can only imagine the sadness of old farmers watching their children sell off generations of toil and care and love to the "developers". Or worse yet - having to do so themselves. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I decided to head out to the Sun Top trail, near the Dalles Campground in Rainer Park. My goal was to do a recon ride on Saturday night to find the trail . Trixie Takes a Trip. Not Another Bernat Seed Stitch Lap Blanket. Greatvity (My review of Gravity 2013). Who, Where, Why.

Brain Ambulations: Monopolies are as bad as mono-cultures.
http://brain-ambulations.blogspot.com/2014/05/monopolies-are-as-bad-as-mono-cultures.html
Sunday, May 18, 2014. Monopolies are as bad as mono-cultures. Mono-cultures are a failed experiment in agricultural efficiency. After a brief honeymoon of bumper production mono-cultures require more work and more artificial inputs to produce the same amount of food as managed mixed agriculture. Mono-cultures are only feasible because diesel is so incredibly cheap when compared to manual or draft animal labour. Benefits to you as a Canadian citizen:. 3 Food variety will shrink as plant breeders will deci...

Pints to Ponder: the everlasting pub crawl: A quick pint in Montreal
http://pintstoponder.blogspot.com/2011/08/quick-pint-in-montreal.html
Pints to Ponder: the everlasting pub crawl. Do you like pubs? I like pubs, and I visit most every one I can. Friday, August 26, 2011. A quick pint in Montreal. So on a Thursday I find myself in downtown Montreal with the Hammer and the LBoH, with a little time to pass in between “Just for Laughs” events. The second show is in a dodgy-looking neighbourhood on Ste Catherine East that turns out to have a hidden gem. We grab a pint at le Sainte Elizabeth to slake our thirst. Century stone building itself.

Pints to Ponder: the everlasting pub crawl. Do you like pubs? I like pubs, and I visit most every one I can. Monday, May 23, 2011. Finding a pub when travelling can be very hit and miss. In Canada, hotel staff are often a good. Source of recommendations, especially if you are specific about what you are looking for. In. It's worth the drive. Every time I'm in Long Island, I will return for the fine food and beer, and gay-90's holiday atmosphere of the dining rooom. I only wish they sold beer as t...Somew...

Pints to Ponder: the everlasting pub crawl: A country charmer
http://pintstoponder.blogspot.com/2011/06/country-charmer.html
Pints to Ponder: the everlasting pub crawl. Do you like pubs? I like pubs, and I visit most every one I can. Monday, June 6, 2011. For my birthday, I gathered with some loved ones at The Cheshire Cat, in Carp. Imagine what a country pub should look like, and you are probably not far off. The Cat is not an ancient establishment, but it has taken over an ancient building in a way that only a confident feline can. In this case, a 128 year old former one-room schoolhouse, solidly built from native stone.

Pints to Ponder: the everlasting pub crawl. Do you like pubs? I like pubs, and I visit most every one I can. Wednesday, April 13, 2011. On Friday, I met two friends at one of Ottawa's oldest irish pubs, Patty's Pub (opened 1974). I was first to get there, and quite hungry. One of those facts will be a shock to some of you, and I'll let the rest of you guess which one. The bruschetta was very nice, and it was a test of will to make sure some remained for the last of my friends to arrive. The Royal Oak cha...
