Central Square Craft Market. The Central Square Craft Market is a project that studies and alters an assigned repetitive precedent to better fit the needs of a marketplace. The precedent studied was a textile factory called Fabrica de Vapor Aymerich designed by Lluís Muncunill i Parellada. It was constructed in 1907 and 1908 in Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain and is now the Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia. Here are a few unit and shape studies. In all of the attempts, I wanted to bring the r...

I co-founded the start-up focusing on educational learning devices for children ages 1-5, inspired by the lack of well designed games for my younger sister and other small children. I conceptualized the handle design, inspired by a traditional Chinese window, which was designed to aid mobility and can easily be grasped by small children and carried around. It can be seen in Iron Man 3 (2013) where it was used to charge the Iron Man suit. It has received U.S. Patent no. 8576563 B2.

I built my first website, Kid’s Reading Corner. Here are some screenshots of the website, which can be found here. On the front page, each group of kids represent a different section for the website. For example, the bottom left hand corner - where there is a girl reading Once upon a time to another girl - links to the stories page. Technical skills used: Adobe Dreamweaver.

What are MIT students thinking about all day long (besides for psets)? Sometimes we get so caught up in the fast-paced environment in which we live that we forget to communicate with the people around us, and that is exactly what this project is aiming for: to help re-establish that connection. In the creation of this project, the designers created a tumblr blog. Technical skills used: Social Media, Lasercutting, Wood-working, Adobe Creative Suite.

Healing U.S. Healthcare. Healing U.S. Healthcare. Is a manifesto co-designed, researched, and written by myself and Johns Hopkins bioengineering student Neil Rens during our internship at Involution Studios. The full manifesto can be read here. Through this experience, I was able to pick up D3 as well as refine my HTML and CSS skills. Here are some screenshots of the data visualisations that I worked on. Finally, this last visualisation was a sankey diagram that showed different pathways to moving toward...

Back Bay Children's Mediatheque. The Boston Children’s Mediatheque is based on field conditions across time. By studying the field condition of traffic speeds and accelerations around the site and the field conditions of the densities of different program elements, I designed a unit to aggregate across the site itself to create its own field system. The mapping shows the different types of infrastructure framing the site: the city fabric above and the turnpike, the commuter rail, and the Orange Line below.

Perfect Pitch - the Card Game for Journalists. The game is designed with high school students interested in journalism in mind, but may be played by anyone aged 12 and up. It exercises students’ oratory, persuasion, and decision making skills, all of which tie closely with the English Language Arts Common Core Standards for high school students. In the prototype, we also included guidelines for how to come up with a perfect pitch and a headline and pitch example, along with an instructions manual.
