City Wall Pub Crawl

City Wall Pub Crawl. Saturday, 11 July 2009. Some low-gear Sunday evening crawling. Pub Number 68: Stonegate Yard. Whenever people talk about "The New Oscars" I'm always a bit unsure whether they're talking about the location that Oscars has now moved to, or if they're referring to the bar that now occupies the former premises of said Oscars. Usually they mean the former, but I tend to assume the latter, resulting in general confusion. Anyway, pub number sixty eight was the latter, Stonegate Yard. It was...

City Wall Pub Crawl: September 2008

http://www.citywallpubcrawl.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

City Wall Pub Crawl. Wednesday, 24 September 2008. Pub number 42: HA! After sitting through the jolly romp that is The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Five word review: "Should have been in German"), we decided that a couple of pints were in order to lift our spirits. Didn't really do the trick, leaving us to nurse our drinks morosely (including Neil's stella-in-a-wine-glass). Posted by Paul Kelly. Monday, 22 September 2008. After 4 hours sleep, a bit of food and a couple of episodes of Property Ladder.

City Wall Pub Crawl. Friday, 26 June 2009. Rumor has it we went to Reflex last night. Pub 64 The Parish. A converted church may not be everyones ideas of a suitable drinking venue but it seams to work quite well. Lynne and Neil arrived ahead of the other two as usual and took a pew. Depending on wether you attend on a week night or a weekend may altar you view of this place as there is usually a congregation of stag and hen dos outside. However tonight there were nun, thank God! Yes we did all the jokes!

City Wall Pub Crawl: August 2008

City Wall Pub Crawl. Wednesday, 27 August 2008. We Are Scientists.(Well, Lynne is). Pub Number 9: The Hansom Cab. We've been here before and it hasn't changed since that last visit. The drinks are still cheap and they still sell organic cherry beer. The toilets are pokey and not particularly pleasant, but they serve a purpose. Lynne and I discovered that you can make your boyfriends go to the bar for you if you talk about periods. I think that deep down, we probably always knew that. A scientist ,. As we...

http://www.citywallpubcrawl.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

City Wall Pub Crawl. Sunday, 15 March 2009. Pub Number 54: Pitcher and Piano. It had been a fair wee while since we'd been to the Comedy Club at the city screen, so we returned to  pub number 3. 160; (this time the basement) to enjoy a few hours in the company of  Richard Herring. 160;as he recounted his school days and made some rude jokes.  It finished at abut 10pm, and never ones to waste pub crawling opportunities (or energy) we made the 4 metre trek to the Pitcher and Piano for a quick drink. By vir...

http://pics-n-words.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Monday, 1 December 2008. No posts for a while because very little Spanish has been learnt in the last few months, due partly to laziness, but mostly to Mario Kart. And I'm still useless at it). There is more I can do though. for example, if I actually click on the little plus sign on the Spanish Word of the Day tool on my igoogle page, then I get to read a whole sentence in Spanish, rather than just one word, every day:. Estoy Aprendiendo Español: Spanish Pod

http://pics-n-words.blogspot.com/2008/06/spanish-pod.html

Wednesday, 28 May 2008. If I think about it, I do know a lot more Spanish than I did a few months ago, without really having to make an effort. I still don't feel that I'd be able to conduct any kind of conversation in the language though. As I'm at week 10 of my 12 week BBC Spanish course, my thoughts have been turning to what I can do next to learn more. The answer lies in £120 birthday money which I used to buy an ipod:. And in a little website called Coffee Break Spanish. I'll let you know how it goes.

Estoy Aprendiendo Español: Como Agua Para Chocolate

http://pics-n-words.blogspot.com/2008/08/como-agua-para-chocolate.html

Wednesday, 27 August 2008. Como Agua Para Chocolate. I bought a book written entirely in Spanish the other day - Como Agua Para Chocolate. I chose this one, partly because I've heard of it and it seemed a little less high-brow than El Alchimista. Therefore hopefully easier to translate) but mainly because I could translate the title with no help from a dictionary. There was another Laura Esquivel book that I judged to be better from its cover, but since I couldn't even translate the title.
