Open Source Civic EV Kit. Saturday, February 6, 2010. Analyzing PakTrakr Files with PrestoPlot. I took the Civic out for a spin today with my neatly installed PakTrakr and captured some data while pulling some reasonably high currents. I programmed the Synkromotive controller to limit the battery amps to 250 to help prolong the life of the batteries. After measuring my batteries for several days after that, they seemed much better, but still didn't seem to get fully charged when sitting at work. Open Source Civic EV Kit. Saturday, April 18, 2009. Researching a Paint Job. One of the downsides of a home-EV conversion is that most of them don't have air conditioning. The AC tends to suck precious power from the battery and adds extra weight to the car while taking up space that could be used for batteries. Paint shop (which got horrible reviews) wanted $550 for their bottom-of-the-line paint option. Planning to Replace the EV Components. In a month or so, I'll be getting a beta-test motor controller.

An Electric Vehicle Conversion of a 1993 Honda Civic del Sol and a 1988 Honda Civic Wagon. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. The MiniBMS boards arrived and all of them are installed with a green led on. The boards went on pretty easy, except I had to remount the controller and the heat gauge sender to leave some room for the boards. Notice, the one board could be pushed sideways to make room for a cable, nice. Twenty boards on the trunk pack. Heat gauge sender mounted on a copper tube strap. Surprise, it works!

Here he is standing next to his Solar Bug. It is a 72v EV with a solar panel on the top. With 3-4 amps from the PV panel he should be able to get 10-15 miles per day from the sun! An Electric Vehicle Conversion of a 1993 Honda Civic del Sol and a 1988 Honda Civic Wagon. Monday, April 2, 2012. My neighbor finally finished his EV, but it was worth the wait. The donor is a Subaru Forester and the new guts are an Azure AC motor/controller, custom adapter plate, GBS LifeMnPO4 cells, Elite Power BMS.
