Friday, April 26, 2013. 2013 Bead Soup Blog Party. My partner is Tara Plote. Tara has had the enviable experience of having sold jewelry right off of her body! I think every jewelry maker dreams of that happening some day. Tara lives in Phoenix, where I lived many years ago, and where my oldest daughter was born, so we instantly had a something in common. She is also a very warm person and it seemed like we instantly connected. Opening them was even better! While it’s an “earthy” bead, ...The first thing...

Saturday, April 21, 2012. The next photo is what I call "drive by" purchases. I got them at various places, none of which I really knew. The silver discs are silver plated, and should be fun to use. The small blue pearls I hope to use in a bracelet. And finally, Theodoras. Beads Oh, the beady decadence! I used to think of myself as conservative, but one look at these beauties and any thought of moderation goes out the window! I actually finished this pendant in the four hour class. Thursday, November 1, 2012. Bead Soup, the Book! I was so excited to find one of the “Bead Soup Enclosed” envelopes in my mailbox! In celebration of Lori Anderson's new book Bead Soup. I was even more excited when I saw the bead soup inside. I couldn’t have gotten anything more perfect. Safire Rose Beads and Things. This was also great because it is in gunmetal, and both of my girls love gunmetal. Safire Rose also sent three of the juiciest focals ever! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Thursday, June 4, 2009. My efforts to make this a food blog pretty much went splat on the pavement. I realized my life is too full of other stuff that motivates me to write, so I am officially diversifying. For example…Wildlife. I have an extremely weird history with wildlife. I love it, but once in a while it seems to intersect my life in a very weird way. First there was the Rambo grackle in Arizona. Then there was the $485 raccoon family. Now we have the deranged robin. One year we peacefully co-exist...

Thursday, October 2, 2008. Mom's Best Recipe Ever. So when I was sitting at a family gathering, and the whole curse thing came up, I ran into my mom and said "Mom, did you ever hear about this Hungarian curse thing where you put people's names in the freezer? To her, the word "heavy" was made for grandma's purse. 1 cup butter, melted. 1 cup brown sugar. 1 1/2 cups flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. 1 1/2 cups oatmeal ( I use whatever I have on hand; any kind works). I don't put any sugar on them, just free...

Friday, January 21, 2011. It's been a while since I have posted, but with the making of the granola recipe, I thought I would post it in one place and give everyone the link. I started with another granola recipe, but changed it so much, there is little resemblance to the original. I feel safe in calling it "mine". I get most of the ingredients at http:/ www.asherycountrystore.com/. 8 cups rolled oats. 1 cup wheat germ. 1 cup oat bran. 1 cup flax seed, ground. Mix all of this in a very large bowl. Cover ...
