Thursday, April 29, 2004. Hooray, hooray. The appraisal on the new house came in at exactly what we had already agreed to pay for it. Excellent. Why am I so excited? Because that was the last potential stumbling block in buying our new house. Had it come in significantly lower than our offered purchase price, we would have had to renegotiate with sellers that aren't particularly intelligent. That could have gotten ugly. Guess what I found in my wallet this week? Posted by Brian at 2:29 PM. Well, we packe...

The Dead Money Chronicles. Tuesday, April 26, 2005. Draft Revisited and Random Tuesday Link Goodness (Or Jon Gripes About the Saints Again, and Avoids Grading with a Blog Post). Why then the bitching? Because they’ve gone and drafted Aaron Brooks junior! 3 On the other hand, I thought that Arizona had the best draft followed closely by Dallas and Minnesota. Arizona really seems to have turned a corner, and if Kurt Warner can give them any type of consistent play at QB this year, I think they can real...

A community blog of gastrophiles for all seasons. Marys Scalloped Sweet Potatoes. Mom Cooking: Pasta Jambalaya. Sweet and Sour Slow Cooker Turkey Meatballs. Friday, November 26, 2004. This is good for the cold (or cool) mornings we are all starting to experience. 1 can evaporated milk. 3 c regular milk. This drink can be petty sweet. If you find it to be a little rich, just add more milk. :). Posted by Erin 6:16 AM. Monday, November 22, 2004. Monkey Bread: The Official Bread of Monkeys. And has done me r...

Sunday, November 28, 2004. 20 Years in 38 seconds, or Heartbreak on Rocky Top. So close. Kentucky actually led Tennessee. For most of a football game. UK hasn't beaten Tennessee since 1984. And then with 0:38 left, Tennessee got a winning touchdown. Alas. What was really sad was that on UK's ensuing :38 attempt to score again, the UK band kept playing the theme from Lord of the Rings. That whole underdog thing going on. Posted by Brian at 10:06 PM. Saturday, November 27, 2004. Posted by Brian at 1:15 PM.

Friday, June 25, 2004. Please don't page me. Orientation was remarkably boring and a waste of time. Practically nothing of relevance was discussed and I'm still likely to have no idea where anything is when we start next Thursday. On the other hand, we received our long coats, ID badges, and pagers today. That was pretty much the highlight of the week. Posted by Brian at 6:09 PM. Wednesday, June 23, 2004. Thursday, September 30, 2004. So, my intern year schedule started out with an easy month and then three consecutive months of overnight call. Two of those three are now gone. I'm still unsure what this coming month in a town of 8,000 in the middle of eastern Kentucky is going to be like. Yesterday I heard a version that made it sound like a pretty good time, all things considered, other than being away from home. And finally, please follow this link to the Glasgow Gomer Scale. Thursday, October 28, 2004. Wow, this is just the third entry during this entire month. Of course, that could be because I've spent most of the month working out of town, of which tomorrow will be the last day of driving back and forth and spending. What else is going on? Next up. general medicine wards at the VA. Next month, all month. At least I'll get to spend some time at home. Maybe build a fire in the fireplace without burning the house down. Sunday, August 29, 2004. What do Alaska and Ethiopia have in common? Nothing like a nice slow day to make life a little easier. Less than 3 hours at the hospital today, although 20 minutes of that was getting an earful on the phone from a lady, who although she hasn't seen her husband in days, and knows nothing about medicine, wanted to dictate to us what medication to use because someone she knows had advised her that way. Irritating. Posted by Brian at 7:09 PM. Saturday, August 28, 2004. College footba...

Friday, December 24, 2004. Oh, and merry Christmas. Lots of ice. Everywhere. It rained all night. Then the temp went to less than 20. The water instantly froze. Well, plus there was sleet for a couple more hours, which froze where it landed. Pretty though. I hope the pictures worked. Posted by Brian at 6:48 PM. This shrub gives an illustration of how every single branch and twig is completely ensheathed in the ice. Pretty. Posted by Brian at 6:43 PM. Posted by Brian at 6:40 PM. Posted by Brian at 6:38 PM.
