Clay by Kristen: Foot in the Door 4 @ MIA

http://claybykristen.blogspot.com/2010/03/foot-in-door-4-mia.html

Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Foot in the Door 4 @ MIA. It was exciting, fun, and claustrophobic all at the same time.fortunately, my sister and a friend came with me so I didn't have to face the crowds alone. For work throughout the exhibit (everything is numbered, so work is suprisingly easy to find). The exhibit runs through June 13th and is completely free, so if anyone happens to be in the area, I strongly suggest stopping by to check it out. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Clay by Kristen: July 2009

http://claybykristen.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 29, 2009. And summer keeps flying by. Once again, the evils of dial-up internet have thwarted my recent attempts to post, but it seems as though the server is cooperating tonight so I can finally update! Quite a bit has happened since my last post - the Manito Art League juried show has come and gone (and was beautiful.every year the art entered is so different from previous years! Joan said, "Hey, Kristen, why don't you carve a little something into the side of the canoe? For more inform...

Clay by Kristen: June 2009

http://claybykristen.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 11, 2009. Dreary days in June are no fun. Fortunately, I've been countering the lack-luster weather by using particularly bright colors on one of my new bodies of work (they make not look like it now since colored slip is usually pretty dull before it's fired, but trust me). Since late fall I've been experimenting with the yin-yang effect of using vivid electric glazes contrasted with smoke firing (did I mention this in my last post? Saturday, June 6, 2009. Finally "Getting Out There".

First OpenFOAM Tutorial; Part 3 | Vis Legis Mathematica

https://ffrufffruf.wordpress.com/2013/03/06/first-openfoam-tutorial-part-3

Cum Mathematica et Physicum factus meus. First OpenFOAM Tutorial; Part 3. Now on to the final part of my first OpenFoam Tutorial. In this part; we’ll run the simulation case and play around with paraView to get some pretty pictures. Remember; the goal for this project is meant to make an object, build a mesh, and run the simulation successfully in OpenFOAM, and the challenging work was already finished in Part 2. Of course, the simulation may take quite a while. By ffruffffruff on March 6, 2013. You are ...

Small Eigenvalue and Eigenfunction application | Vis Legis Mathematica

https://ffrufffruf.wordpress.com/2010/02/28/small-eigenvalue-and-eigenfunction-application

Cum Mathematica et Physicum factus meus. Small Eigenvalue and Eigenfunction application. I’ve spent most of the day trying to find a good physical application regarding eigen theory; specifically focused on the usefulness of eigenvalues and their respective eigenfunctions. Through a bit of searching I came across this interesting site. Which is a pretty good exercise in finding solutions to laplace’s equation. A11=(ka kb kf)/m1;. A22=(kb kc kd)/m2;. Calculating eigenvalues and eigenvectors. C(3)*V(3,3)*c...

First OpenFOAM Tutorial; Part 2 | Vis Legis Mathematica

https://ffrufffruf.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/first-openfoam-tutorial-part-2

Cum Mathematica et Physicum factus meus. First OpenFOAM Tutorial; Part 2. One other note; I’m using openFOAM-2.1.x for this project. The very first step is copying the motorbike case files, located in OpenFOAM-2.1.x/tutorials/incompressible/simpleFoam/moterBike and pasting them into a new directory called ‘bluntCone’. So for this case, I copied the contents into Cases/bluntCone/. The file structure should look a bit like this;. TransformPoints -translate “(0.0 0.65 0.65)”. Not too shabby right? You&#8217...

Proof that Green’s Theorem is equivalent to Divergence Theorem | Vis Legis Mathematica

https://ffrufffruf.wordpress.com/2012/08/01/proof-that-greens-theorem-is-equivalent-to-divergence-theorem

Cum Mathematica et Physicum factus meus. Proof that Green’s Theorem is equivalent to Divergence Theorem. Just in case anyone wanted to know; Green’s theorem is equivalent to the Divergence Theorem (aka Gauss’s Theorem), which are both very important equations when it comes to vector calculus and physics. Specifically regarding heat transfer, mass transfer and fluid dynamics (continuity equations mainly) as well as used in electromagnetism. For further reading; Wikipedia is very. First OpenFOAM Tutorial! | Vis Legis Mathematica

https://ffrufffruf.wordpress.com/2013/02/21/first-openfoam-tutorial

Cum Mathematica et Physicum factus meus. That being said, my first tutorial on using OpenFOAM — The bluntCone project. First some necessary background: OpenFOAM. Very helpful, but still ran into a few issues pertaining to my particular project. Oh right. one more minor detail; Installing OpenFOAM. Of course the main page gives pretty good directions on installing the source code, but I actually found Håkan Nilsson’s tutorial on installing OpenFOAM on the personal Laptop. Step 1) Creating a Blunt Cone.

In order to understand recursion.. | Vis Legis Mathematica

https://ffrufffruf.wordpress.com/2010/07/09/in-order-to-understand-recursion

Cum Mathematica et Physicum factus meus. In order to understand recursion. This problem is related to one of my pending assignments regarding parallel programming; You have an array of size n: A(n) with randomly generated numbers. Sort the array in order of lowest value to highest value. Sounds pretty simple yes? However, this is becomes a very difficult problem when the goal is to do it as fast as possible with a large value of n (say. n = 10 4). Especially if it’s done sequentially. Program start n = "...

Clayworks by Kim Detmers

Clayworks by Kim Detmers. Polymer Clay artwork and observations.possibly some useless trivia and creative spelling. Friday, February 19, 2016. I never thought I would live near the ocean but then then I never thought I would ever live in New Mexico either. After 6 years in the desert landscape of New Mexico we have packed up and moved to California. Monday, September 21, 2015. A little mini top hat steampunk style. The best part is the pinwheel works. Sunday, April 5, 2015. This is how it started out.

Saturday, February 2, 2013. From Out of the Mist. After a multi-year absence (how embarrassing.my apologies to anyone who actually follows/followed this blog while I was living in the Mid-West! Fate has apparently decided it's time for me to shake the dust off my tools and get back in the studio, hopefully once again as a teacher for a local art center. Shipping and Local-Pickup Discounts. The goal for the majority of my hand-made pottery pieces is to be functional beyond sheer aesthetics. As such, all ceramics are microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe. All the glazes used are food-safe (that is, lead-free) unless specifically indicated. If the pieces are taken care of, you're sure to enjoy using them for many years. I still use plates and bowls that I made 12-15 years ago! I welcome any questions/comments you may have about my pottery pieces!
