Fund-raising and many other general ways (not for publication, but the flowers and dickies look nice! Since he has joined, the band have gone from strength to strength, gaining a 3rd and 4th place at the Scottish Open, 2nd place at Butlins, 7th and 4th at the Yorkshire Area and 6th at the British Open to name a few. The Percussion Section –. The Percussion Section -. Playing a proper instrument (well nearly, it was 2nd baritone) in the Riddings Band in 1977, however he knew there was something missing as he broke the valves pressing them down much too hard. As such he made his way to the Matlock band in 1979, but not on baritone! He moved to the percussion section, and settled like a duck to water. He made so much progress that he was snapped up by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band only one year later!
