Luxembourg is a nice, small city (it's a small country) with lots of green spaces and lovely plazas. The Hotel de Ville (Town Hall). The Grand Duke's Palace. End of Luxembourg pictures * *. The weather was wonderful, just what the doctor ordered. 14 day of sun - not a cloud in the sky. In fact, on one particular day, it was just too hot - so we took to the air-conditioning. Don't know what temp it was at mid-day, but it was still 36C at sunset. The Residence Intouriste - where we were based. Kathleen on the balcony. Down by the fishing port.

I saw a story about Moldova as a city-break destination, in "Wanderlust" magazine. Knew nothing about the place, so I read on. Got sufficiently interested to order Lonely Planet - Romania and Moldova. It could have been even better, but the Turkish speaking Gagauz and the Soviet-bent Transdniestr declared for their own independence - which culminated in a bloody civil war.

The words are Gaelic and mean hill of the oak. The name was chosen after much deliberation. Our home is not quite on the top of a hill that is liberally dotted with about 10 different types of oak trees. And too, we bought the place for our canine housemate and he loved it here. So our name is two-fold and it is quite literally, Oak's hill. An Armstrong and A Heffernan.
