Suspense is strongly communicated with the narrative punctuated with repetitive cross dissolve transitions of closeups of the racist villain washing blood off his hands; this technique combined with flashbacks of a slamming door indicates confusion and pschopathy. Diegetic and non diegetic sound are used to great effect and inject the narrative with elements of nightmare.
