Ocracoke Waves: That fall feeling
http://ocracokewaves.blogspot.com/2008/11/that-fall-feeling.html
Random thoughts on issues of importance to me. Sunday, November 09, 2008. As the season begins to turn here on the coast, my thoughts are drawn back to previous falls. There are some great memories there. One fall, probably 1974, I built the first big barn on our farm in Tay Creek. New Brunswick. I can still remember nailing up the last of the steel siding just before American Thanksgiving. By then it was pretty cold to work outside without gloves. At the end of one early conference in Boca Raton Starshi...

The best place to live in north carolina. Summer Is Not Leaving Yet. On Fri, 08/30/2013 - 02:02. When you wake up in the morning and the temperature is just below eighty degrees Fahrenheit, you know that summer is planning to hang around a while. When that warm morning is followed by an afternoon downpour, you can assume you are still in a summer weather pattern. However, anyone who does have plans to visit the area will get the bonus of waters that are likely to get warmer over the next few days. We...

Crystal Coast Life: Spring Is Sliding Fast, Beach Season Next
http://crystalcoastlife.blogspot.com/2014/04/spring-is-sliding-fast-beach-season-next.html
Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Spring Is Sliding Fast, Beach Season Next. We had a cold spring. And one stormy late April weekend. But the great weather. Has finally found us. Blue skies and beautiful blue waters. To match rescued us from the grip of some northern weather that had lost its way. Finally, a week late, the first local strawberries arrived on April 24 and I am not far from picking my first ripe cherry tomato of the season. The gardens are moving along faster than the fishing. Many locals will te...

My friends in Tay Creek, New Brunswick got a big shot of snow. This past weekend which is normal for them in the middle of December. We are also still enjoying our gardens. Along the Southern Outer Banks. We are getting some of our winter marsh visitors. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Warm Embrace of Late Summer 2016.

The best place to live in north carolina. The Zig and Zag of the White Oak River. On Wed, 06/29/2011 - 12:19. An updated version of this post can be found at this link. Living on one of North Carolina's coastal rivers is a true pleasure, and I have written about it before including this post, How to Enjoy a Coastal River. There are mornings when the air, wind, and tides just seem to tell me to get in the boat and ride down the river. It is one of the urges in life that I don't try to resist at all. If yo...

Crystal Coast Life: Winter Found the Crystal Coast
http://crystalcoastlife.blogspot.com/2014/02/winter-found-crystal-coast.html
Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Winter Found the Crystal Coast. I guess a wandering polar vortex could not be counted on to stay far enough to the north to leave us alone. We did get iced over. In late January here along the North Carolina coast. Some people complained about everything shutting down in anticipation of our icing event. But the reality is that we ended up in a lot less pain than folks farther south who ignored the snow and ice warnings. We have thawed out. As long as they do not use them comm...

Crystal Coast Life: June 2013
http://crystalcoastlife.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 24, 2013. Summer Is Here On The Crystal Coast. Beautiful Surf at Hammocks Beach State Park. The tomatoes are ripe, the humidity is here, the heat pumps are running, and we are all headed for the water. That pretty well defines summer here on the Crystal Coast. And June has already been a great time to enjoy the beaches here along the Southern Outer Banks. The over seven inches of rain that we have received in June has managed to wash away any thoughts of a dry early summer. The Canada I miss.

Crystal Coast Life: April 2013
http://crystalcoastlife.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 30, 2013. We are ready for summer. I am ready for summer but I cannot say that it is because of our winter. Considering that we did not see any snow this year like our last real winter in 2011. It is hard to complain very much about our weather. However, we have had our share of cold days and our spring has been somewhat cooler than last year. I finished two books this spring so I am ready for a little play time. Living in North Carolina. During most of the year I do a summary post at my C...
