Kent's 2 Cents

Saturday, September 20, 2014. So too, does our show-life vary based on a thousand factors - our role, our attachment to the story-line and the characters we play - even where we are in our acting careers and how we came to be in the cast. So as I think of Jeffrey's rather lonely journey, hidden behind his keyboard and music, I wondered, what makes my experience in this show different? What unique perspective do I bring to "Bonnie and Clyde"? Paul and Verla Coffel. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. The aust...

Kent's 2 Cents: Over The Line

http://www.coffelka.blogspot.com/2014/08/over-line.html

Sunday, August 17, 2014. Strange how the mind makes connections between apparently unrelated things. This week my thoughts have been occupied by two very different events: the beginning of rehearsals for New Line Theater's “Bonnie and Clyde” and civil unrest and police response following the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson. How did our police force become so militarized? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Jeffrey Carter: and sure stars shining . . . The Bad Boy of Musical Theatre. Just your averag...

Kent's 2 Cents: August 2014

Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Bonnie and Clyde: Through Read-Through. Maybe I now and then I might gloss over the places when my character is off. So unless you are the lead and in every scene, read-through is the time when an actor gets a really good feel for the flow of the show, how scenes transition, the little gems of writing that will ultimately come out of someone else's mouth. Or “da bomb” ("How did I. Manage get myself cast in this show? So what did I learn from my first read-through last night?

Studies in Scene & Song: September 2014

http://strawtilla.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Studies in Scene and Song. The thoughts of a musical theatre fan. Sunday, September 28, 2014. This is the Moment/Week! We are in the throes of tech/hell week currently; cue-2-cue rehearsal yesterday and sitzprobe today. More often than not I loathe these rehearsals. They tend to be tedious, and I always get antsy since there is so much stopping and starting. However, I must say that I always enjoy New Line tech weekends. Let's break this down real quick:. That 5.5 hours included. Over 200 light cues.

Studies in Scene and Song. The thoughts of a musical theatre fan. Saturday, July 21, 2012. Nothing is an accident, We are free to have it all. Hope everyone is doing well. It's been a while since my last real post (the last one was actually written in late March). Since we've hit the halfway point of the summer, I should probably catch you up on what's been going on. Most of April and the beginning of May was devoted to. Little Shop of Horrors. Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida. I realize it's not the most ...

http://strawtilla.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Studies in Scene and Song. The thoughts of a musical theatre fan. Monday, January 19, 2015. So I came to the realization the other day that I have only ever used this blog when I have been in a New Line show. Therefore, time to start blogging again. We started rehearsals for Jerry Springer the Opera. A few weeks ago, and I can honestly say this is going to be one hell of a ride. Let us look at the numbers real quick:. There are 40 songs in the show (including Overture and Bows). Later days, Strawpun.

Studies in Scene and Song. The thoughts of a musical theatre fan. Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Who ya been lovin' since I been gone? I hope that everyone who reads this is doing well. I realize that it's been a while since I last posted. Every time I've tried, something has come up. Therefore, here I am now, and I have a lot to catch ya up on. A few of my favorite bits about this show (so far). 5 Ryan and Taylor killing it every time they do "I'm Infected". For the name). More on this to come. This is wh...

Bollini's Bloggini: February 2010

http://marabloggini.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, February 25, 2010. Getting in the Swing of Things. Let's talk dance rehearsal, how fantastic. I felt great that night and the next like my body was thankful to have had the opportunity to REALLY stretch (thank you, Robin). Can't wait to get into the meat of the choreography, these are fast songs so it will take a lot of work to get this together and dance as a group. Friday, February 19, 2010. I get the feeling. This is the beginning of something amazing! Tuesday, February 16, 2010.

Bollini's Bloggini: Gone is all the angst and crappiness

http://marabloggini.blogspot.com/2011/02/gone-is-all-angst-and-crappiness.html

Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Gone is all the angst and crappiness. Last night was the first night that Scott watched the show in its entirety while Justin played (he was AMAZING by the way and I need to be sure to tell him this tonight). This was an opportunity to really stop and work on scenes/details that are not quite there. We knew it would be a longer night perhaps than those past but time well spent for sure. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. View my complete profile.

Studies in Scene and Song. The thoughts of a musical theatre fan. Sunday, August 31, 2014. Time to put on my Blogging Hat again. Me in my blogging hat. I have encountered an issue: I am doing a disservice to the show with all of my research. As I mentioned previously, I am playing Deputy Bud Russel in Bonnie and Clyde. Now, the things that were bad/strange:. Clyde has ESP, which saves them on several occasions from Hamer's forces. The Big One: Clyde sets up the ambush that slaughters Bonnie and himself.
