A bit about our open-science Marie Curie project. A bit about our open-science Marie Curie project. Wed 05 November 2014. This is my first week as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow. Exciting! Are post-doctoral grants from the European Commision. They give young(ish) researchers like me the opportunity to focus full time on research for two years. Being a Marie Curie fellow is a good thing in every way, so I’m thrilled to finally start! The right-most badge is the officious open-access logo, designed by PLoS.

The play store bully. The play store bully. Fri 13 February 2015. I recently had a little adventure on the Google Play store, where I publish a few apps. I wanted to share the story with you, because it illustrates the danger of having a single company (Google) that dictates an entire platform (Android) and its app store (Google Play Store). Display. Bright text on a dark background, like this. Positive polarity is much more common than negative polarity. Microsoft Word uses dark-on-bright text. This website uses it. And books use it, of course. Is this only a matter of taste? Or is one polarity really better than the other? Which, as you might gues...

Notes from the NC3Rs workshop on publication bias. Notes from the NC3Rs workshop on publication bias. Fri 27 February 2015. I'm writing this on my way back from London, where I attended a workshop on publication bias that was organized by the NC3Rs. There were many excellent speakers, but I will first highlight the opening talk by Emily Sena. Her talk was partly based on a meta-analysis. How many studies were never published, and what did these invisible studies find? And this is exactly what they want.

Woensdag 6 juli 2011. Men having sex with men. Indian health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has received a great deal of criticism for saying that gay sex is not only unnatural, but even a disease. Although homosexual intercourse was decriminalized by the Delhi high court in 2009, homophobic attitudes and plain ignorance die hard. Jeremy Yoder recently wrote a really nice piece on this issue on a guest blog at Scientific American. This quote reflects his general idea:. Abonneren op: Reacties plaatsen (Atom).
