2015 Dec 17 - Memorial Service. Dr Alison Pickard BUSH died 18 November 2015 aged 89. She joined the CMS in1972 and was a GP at West Mersea. A Memorial Service was held at Colchester Friends Meeting House on 17 December at 2.30 pm. The second part of the Medical Meandering walk took place on WED 14 OCTOBER 2015 at 10 am. The Colchester Medical Society was almost 50 years old when Essex County Hospital was opened in 1820. The hospital still serves the town. OUR HISTORY Based on past notes of Dr Walter Radcliffe MA, MB, Chir, MRCS, LRCP. Newell died on 24 May 1814 and is buried in the churchyard of St Mary-at-the-Walls, and a memorial plaque inside the church describes him as doctor of medicine. None of the British universities has any record of him taking this degree. St Mary-at-the-Walls is now the Colchester Arts Centre.
