April | 2012 | Chef Juje

https://chefjuje.wordpress.com/2012/04

A messy adventure in learning to cook. Archive for the month “April, 2012”. This is the dish that inspired Chef Juje! I tried this dish for the first time a few months ago, back when I was *just* learning to cook and before I discovered online cooking classes or blogs or basically anything that would help me along my way. I didn’t know how to heat a pan and was afraid of using oil and my patience was even shorter than it is now. And he by far is Chef Juje’s biggest fan (and beneficiary! The recipe I used...

http://cookbookjunkie.blogspot.com/2006/09/recipe-and-blogiversary_07.html

Thursday, September 07, 2006. A recipe and a blogiversary. Beef and Potato Tex-Mex Hash. 1 lb extra-lean ground beef I used natural 90% lean ground beef. 1 tbsp. onion powder. 1 tbsp. nonfat beef broth I used a couple of teaspoons of canola oil. 3 cups frozen Potatoes O’Brien I threw in the entire bag. 1 cup chunky-style salsa. 2 tsp Mexican seasoning I used my homemade taco seasoning. 1 ½ cups nonfat shredded cheddar cheese I used Cabot's 50% Light Cheddar. Onto the important stuff. A year ago today, I ...

The Cookbook Junkie: Sure about the recipe, on the fence about the book

http://cookbookjunkie.blogspot.com/2007/03/sure-about-recipe-on-fence-about-book.html

Wednesday, March 07, 2007. Sure about the recipe, on the fence about the book. 1 cup picante sauce. 188; cup honey. 189; teaspoon ground ginger. 1 ½ pounds skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into strips. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. First I had to test some of the recipes and so far I've made three of them. The first two weren't bad but they weren't great either. Oh no. Panic set in. I don't want to give away a crappy cookbook yet I don't want two of these either, ya know? So right now the score i...

A Day In The Life. Saturday, April 19, 2008. The Stuff of Which We Are Made. Today is moving day, kindasorta. It's been a while since I've posted so let me fill you in on some of the details. It meant that not much redecorating got done until we were actually going to place the For Sale sign on the front lawn. Well that dream got thrown into the fire and life in Ohio must resume. le sigh. I should add that for the past year or so, the extra bedroom has been The Tupperware Room. Yeah anyone who knows ...

Suncoast Living: A lovely weekend

http://suncoastliving.blogspot.com/2009/04/lovely-weekend.html

Thursday, April 02, 2009. She is loving her increased greens diet: a large handful of kale, romaine lettuce, flat leaf parsley, curly parsley, and cilantro. Thank heavens it's all pretty cheap at Target. She also has enjoyed a new part of her diet: power cables. Our new scanner/printer/fax had a particularly tasty power cord. Brad had to splice it back together. Not cute, Bunny. In other news, Brad ate a burrito! That's where Carl and I honeymooned - I'd LOVE to see more pictures. Living the Seaver Life.

Recipes, Restaurant reviews, musings and rants. I'm just an ordinary guy trying to feed his family and I love food! Cooking it, shopping for it, learning about it and of course, eating it! And I love watching my family enjoy what I make for them. I am definitely NOT a chef, though someday, maybe someday, I'll try culinary school and learn to do things the "right way". In the mean time, I'll keep doing what I do, trying new things, learning product, technique and trying to share it with you. 3 Tablespoons...

Main - Recent Posts. Map of Ohio Breweries. Food Trucks of Columbus. Thursday, April 18, 2013. Ithaca's Ground Break Review. Saison - 6.2% ABV. From: Ithaca, NY. I bought this after a recommendation from Chad at Weiland's, so, thanks Chad! I'm a big fan. Of farmhouse ales, and I'm always looking for a new staple. I think I've found one. Ithaca Beer Co. really nails the style. Here's my review:. This beer pours a hazy yellow color with an enormous white head. I can smell the brett already! Chelsey and I h...

Columbus Food and Wine. But monsieur, it is only wafer thin! Writer's Block and Other Random Thoughts. February 21, 2007. February 21, 2007. What can I say? When I started this blog I promised myself I would post at least one entry per week. That has not been the case. I have been struggling with a review of Latitude 41 for the past three weeks. It is my first official review and I think I am being too hard on myself. I want it to be perfect, even though I know that it won? Everyday Reds on a Budget.

Tuesday, October 20, 2009. I made some German food and reported on it at my beer blog Bottles and Cans. But you can read it all here:. Cooking w/Beer: Stovetop Brats. Last night we had what I am calling the "Oktoberfeast." This was a meal featuring German potato salad and some Brussels sprouts mixed with sour cream and bacon. There was an excellent Oktoberfest beer from Avery, but I'll post more on that later. Now, I've made beer brats before. Get It Together: The Kaiser and the Oktoberfeast. With fall c...
