Sunday, June 10, 2012. Cause Catchin' Up is Hard to Do . . . Three months worth of pictures and events in one giant post. We've been busy, to say the least. Earlier in the spring, we went strawberry picking Yum! Since then, we've been blueberry picking twice. Double Yum! The first time, we got to go with Aunt Adrian, and she was so sweet to invite us over for dinner afterwards. Can I say again how much I LOVE having a yard for the kids to play in? They love splashing in the little kiddie pool we bought.

We have one tangerine tree,. Five little lemon trees,. And three large fig trees. We will be using a juicer! Of course, playing with dirt ...

Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Adelaide Walking and Other Adventures. Two weeks ago, Ada finally decided to let go of my pants leg and explore the world on her own, unsteady two feet. Now, she is toddling all over the house, yard, sidewalks, stores, everywhere I dare turn her loose. (The video is from a few weeks ago.). Michael and Sadie recently recently learned how to do headstands. After years of dreaming and months of house hunting, we are finally in the process of buying our first house! I can't even ...

Compton : January 2013
http://comptoncorners.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 1, 2013. It's been another beautiful Christmas at the close of another wonderful year. We have so many blessings to be grateful for, and we feel the Lord's goodness and mercy to us keenly. The greatest blessing, of course, is our dear family. The kids were invited over to a friend's house to make Christmas trains - akin to Gingerbread houses and just as much fun to eat! Adelaide's was a very modern, abstract interpretation of the theme. Pandemonium and a lot of fun! Played in dirt,.

Compton : March 2015

Thursday, March 19, 2015. Four weeks ago, Matt asked me "Do you want to go to New York? One week later, there I was. Matt had to go for his work, so I just tagged along and explored the city on my own. It was my first time in the "Big Apple," and I feel like I conquered a mountain. That evening, I dragged Matt away from work to go to a concert at Carnegie Hall. And we just barely made it. And we enjoyed every minute of it. They played music from my favorite composer, Beethoven. It was fabulous! I told he...

Compton : July with a Bang
http://comptoncorners.blogspot.com/2015/07/july-with-bang.html
Thursday, July 23, 2015. July with a Bang. Just a few days later, we celebrated Adelaide's fourth birthday with a pool party. I made a beautiful "princess cake" because that's what she wanted. - I had to dig around for a frosting recipe that wouldn't instantly melt when we took it outside in the heat. (Meringue frosting worked great! It managed to stay together quite well. Adelaide loved it, and everyone else was quite impressed. Happy birthday, Big Girl! Joseph's favorite part was watching all the fish.

Compton : Spring has Sprung!
http://comptoncorners.blogspot.com/2015/07/spring-has-sprung.html
Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Sadie and Ada attended a preschool program (run as a class at our local high school) this year and LOVED IT! They came home every day with new crafts and projects and songs they had learned. Here they are the week before Easter when they had an Easter egg hunt. I love hearing the occasional "Want to be best friends? It doesn't happen every day, but when these girls decide to get along they are so sweet it brings tears to my eyes. Michael remains an amazing little boy. Ooops! Straw...

Monday, July 30, 2012. My kids just seem to be getting funnier and funnier. It seems like every time I turn around, they have discovered some new way to laugh, play, and be silly. What a privilege it is to be invited to join in the merriment every day! In a lot of ways (though not all! I feel like my job as a mother is becoming easier as my kids grow; their beautiful personalities are showing through more and more, and it makes my work so much more enjoyable! We recently celebrated Ada's 1st birthday!

Compton : August 2014
http://comptoncorners.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 7, 2014. At the end of June/beginning of July, we took our first-ever family road trip all the way up to Denver, Colorado. I felt pretty brave to drive all that way with four small children in tow ( without. A portable DVD player! But it actually was a really nice trip. The kids were great in the car - probably for two main reasons: 1) we did the bulk of the driving at night while they were asleep and 2) we listened to The Wizard of Oz. And Chronicles of Narnia. We also visited the Denve...
