Friday, 26 June 2009. Also meant to say that I have recently come across the music of Gavin Bryars. Well worth checking out, espeically Jesus' Blood Never failed me yet, a very moving peice, even if it does go a bit over board with the minimalism. Still worth checking out though, it is on Spotify. Posted by Nick Fletcher. Apologies for lack of posting recently. Oh well hopefully back with a bang. What about rhythm and motives? I still have a lot to read and find out, plus (by no real decision) everything...

http://maestrakimd.blogspot.com/2012/08/discarding-fourth-wall-of-classical.html
8220;An iconoclast for today’s classical music.”. Thursday, August 2, 2012. Discarding the Fourth Wall of Classical Music. This summer I’ve been taking a break from my own musicking and taking in other people’s performances and compositions. One concert oddity keeps coming up: the fourth wall. Classical music seems the only performance art that refuses to accept that music is performed o...

8220;An iconoclast for today’s classical music.”. Thursday, August 22, 2013. Musicianship: More Than Just Beautiful Sounds. We've always known that body language is important in communication. Some public speaking studies suggest non-verbal communication shapes 90% of the message. So I certainly coach performers in what I call ‘stagecraft,’ as well as in their sound production. Surprisingly, efforts to improve stagecraft are often met with dismay. 8220;Do I have to listen to them [the audience]? 8220;An ...

Maestra Kim Diehnelt: When Perfection Paralyzes
http://maestrakimd.blogspot.com/2012/01/when-perfection-paralyzes.html
8220;An iconoclast for today’s classical music.”. Tuesday, January 24, 2012. I’ve worked with musicians of various stripes in their endeavors to prepare artistically for a performance. As an artistic coach and conductor I have found there are usually three types of preparation styles that musicians use to develop their performance concepts of a work. The first type of player looks to others for answers to How does the piece go? What is the right way to play this piece? The surprising reply was, “Hm...
