CONNEAUT HISTORY and GENEALOGY. End of an Era. At the turn of the century, the magnificent building named the Harrington Block was built in 1901 by Harrington to be used as a boarding house for railroaders. It was just a couple of blocks south of the Conneaut Shops for the Nickel Plate Railroad. After the shops closed down, it was used for apartments having gone thru several owners. What do you think of this? It is February and YES I rode my Harley down to the Public Dock in Conneaut, Ohio which is approximately 1 mile from my house and there are people walking around out on the ice (behind me) on Lake Erie. Silly people.
