Welcome to Connemara Mountain Lamb ooooooo. My name is Bernard King. You are all very welcome to our website outlining our farm in Leenane, where we produce Connemara Mountain Lamb. The farm is owned and worked by my wife Allison and myself. The farm is around 530 hectares in size, with some of the land rising to over 500m above sea level. The farm lies beside the sea and overlooks the beautiful Killary, Irelands only fjord. Christmas market and on to the end of March. Bord Bia Hill Lamb.

About Our Connemara Mountain Lamb ooooooo. Hill lamb is a well kept culinary secret, a bona fide food treasure, reared in the kind of landscapes that by their nature cannot be intensively farmed. Instead the animals roam free range over extensive areas of mountain until they are brought down to lower land for winter and the lambing season. The physical difference between hill and lowland lamb can be charicterised by smaller, lighter and leaner carcasses, and a deeper colour meat.

We are the third generation to farm here in Leenane, the farm being purchased sometime around 1902. Our farm itself is part of the Maumturk mountain range, which run majestically east / west in beautiful northern Connemara. The farm is within a Special Areas Of Conservation location, which means sheep numbers are limited. This means that we farm with the countryside, with very little footprint left by our style of farming. We are now proud to have been awarded full organic status.
