Follow us on facebook. The competition process takes place over six weeks, commencing on Monday, July 04, 2016, and running until Friday, August 12, 2016. Candidates will be required to be available and take part in the process throughout this period see timetable. A judging panel will monitor candidates throughout the competition process, and will announce their 4 winners on Friday, August 12, 2016. The decision made by the judging panel is final, and no correspondence will be entered in to.

Follow us on facebook. Dylan Jones, of Llanelli, and Cavan McGill, of Pembrey (top), were the 2015 winners. Dylan, a former pupil of Coedcae School, and Cavan, a former pupil of Glan-Y-Mor, had only picked up their GCSE results the week before learning they’d won the competition. Former St John Lloyd pupil Keelan McNicholl-Edwards, of Clifton Terrace, won Next Steps 2013. Thornton Boswell of Llanelli, won Next Steps in 2012. The teenager had only just finished his GCSEs when he entered the competition.

Next Steps is run in partnership between Carmarthenshire County Council’s Property division, Coleg Sir Gar, Carmarthenshire Construction and Training Association (CCTAL), Lloyd and Gravell Ltd and TRJ Ltd. It is an exciting competition to find new construction apprentices to work with Carmarthenshire-based building contractors Lloyd and Gravell Ltd and TRJ Ltd. Candidates are also taking part in weekly construction challenges in trades including plastering, bricklaying and carpentry.
