Contemplative camera

Thursday, 29 December 2016. Winter night and day. During an evening of freezing fog, this web appeared on a parked car sometime between 7pm and 11pm. And the next morning, it seemed that other spiders had been busy in the cold. Bright sun on hoar frost hadn't yet melted the ice. But it was doing its best. And succeeded in the open spaces. Contemplative camera: August 2016

http://contemplativecamera.blogspot.com/2016_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 17 August 2016. People-watching in the city. This is the second sequence of photos from today's outing with my U3A photography group (see previous post. I sat on the cathedral steps and waited to see what I would see. All these shots were taken with a long lens . . . I haven't ventured into the uncertain waters of bona fide. And I thought that this last one also worked well in urban noir. Shapes and colours in the city. Friday, 12 August 2016. Orkney and Shetland 14: final miscellany. Unst is ...

Contemplative camera: September 2015

http://contemplativecamera.blogspot.com/2015_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, 10 September 2015. After mostly poor weather while I was away, I returned home to spectacular evening skies again. Water in monochrome - and chimneys! The first of these images is Wells again; the remainder were all taken at Holkham Hall, to the west of Wells along the coast - hence the rather odd juxtaposition of lake and chimney pots! More boats at Wells-next-the-Sea. Boats in colour and monochrome. In processing my images I've consequently ended up using quite a lot of black and white. The f...

Contemplative camera: May 2016

Monday, 30 May 2016. Late sun through leaves. These images were a quick grab as I noticed the evening sun slanting through leaves on my patio, and knew that the light would change very fast. Tuesday, 17 May 2016. There's something about paeonies that makes them very difficult to photograph well. I think it's to do with the glossy surface layer of the petals and the way that light bounces around inside that layer as well as being reflected off it. Monday, 16 May 2016. Farewell to Gormley's 'LAND'. This ti...

Contemplative camera: November 2016

http://contemplativecamera.blogspot.com/2016_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 30 November 2016. Down to the bare bones. We've reached a sombre low point . . . from here on it starts to be construction rather than destruction. Monday, 28 November 2016. Escape to the woods - falling leaves. Escape to the woods - autumn in monochrome. Escape to the woods - mainly leaves. Escape to the woods - trunks and banches. Escape to the woods - blue and gold. Escaping the noise and dust of electricians at work in my house. Tuesday, 15 November 2016. Paradoxical landscapes version 2.

Saturday, June 11, 2011. What have I been up to lately? Nothing, just didnt feel like it. But when I have a blog and I dont update it I get guilty. So heres some pretty pictures for you that I drew since I stopped posting (oldest to newest). All of them are linked to my flickr, except for the last one, and the one from my webcomic, "muffburger". A lot has happened since I last posted, so I'll try to just spew it out in a nutshell. I got a webcomic (one that I'm actually keeping up with) called Muffburger.

Meditations on the ineffable, effable, and effanineffable…. My Other Blog is Funnier. Grateful for the frost that sculpts. Each leaf a separate work of art. Grateful for the frosted dam that rises. Through the mist and reflects. Grateful for each blade of grass. Yet green ‘neath hoary glaze of frost. Grateful for the sun that creeps by moments. Down the bare grey trunk. Brighting each tree naked. Grateful for the gift of breath. Received, cold clear and. Given back again mist,. Home warm peeling coat.

When he was a little boy, was given a prayer of surrender to the Holy Spirit by his father, and he told him to pray that every day - and he did. John Paul II.
