Kitchen Newbie: Vanilla Cake with Orange Vanilla Frosting
http://kitchennewbie.blogspot.com/2010/08/vanilla-cake-with-orange-vanilla.html
Saturday, August 28, 2010. Vanilla Cake with Orange Vanilla Frosting. This is the first cake I made after a long baking hiatus. I followed this simple vanilla cake recipe. For the frosting, I mostly followed this recipe. But added a bit of orange extract instead of doing the replacements indicated. It was a success although it didn't look very pretty. It was also a dense type of cake, in case you want to go for fluffiness. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Update on My Kitchen.

Kitchen Newbie: March 2010

Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Colcannon for St. Paddy's. Hmm, just when I was thinking about retiring this blog, I publish another post. On St. Paddy's Day, Marguerite and I made Colcannon. Since I don't think I've even ever personally come across a curly kale, I used cabbage. Found my recipe here. Marguerite actually liked it. Have to keep that in mind. That's a good way to get cabbage in her. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The Toils and Woes of a WAHM. Colcannon for St. Paddys.

Kitchen Newbie: October 2009
http://kitchennewbie.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 22, 2009. Obviously, I couldn't get a good picture of this thing. A little girl kept on trying to snatch the glass. That's spiced tea, btw. It's my variation of the usual spiced tea mix. Tuesday, October 13, 2009. It's been a long time since I last made applesauce. This is not how I usually make it, but I was inspired by Supermommy's post. I had the red hots, the apples, and the water, so why not go for it? It smells wonderful. It's also great with dessert. Kitchen Newbie: June 2009
http://kitchennewbie.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Some Other Kind of Fried Chicken. I know it looks particularly ghastly in the pic, but it actually tasted good.:D I didn't want to do the usual breaded fried chicken, so I looked around for another simple fried chicken recipe and came across this. I didn't have the spices specified, so I substituted with oregano and basil. I also adjusted a couple of things since I was only cooking three pieces of chicken. Friday, June 26, 2009. Kitchen Newbie: November 2009
http://kitchennewbie.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Red Hots Apple Cider. I have this need to smell cinnamon all the time around these months, lol. Also, I still have some more Red Hots in a secret stash (my aunt sends candy in bulk) that Marguerite doesn't know about. If I don't do something about them, they just might still be around when cockroaches take over the world. Anyway, had apple juice as well, so why not some apple cider. Thursday, November 12, 2009. Strawberry Wine from Baguio. Saturday, November 7, 2009. Yesterday...

Kitchen Newbie: November 2010
http://kitchennewbie.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 6, 2010. I think there have been too many strawberry desserts lately:. I made the strawberry hypocrite pie, tweaking this recipe. For the strawberry jam cake, I mostly followed this recipe. As for the cupcakes, they're actually store-bought and I just added buttercream frosting. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I will say, though, the emotional fulfillment of kissing his marshmallow cheeks makes every gruesome detail totally null and void. . Only in it for the rain. So *this* is what labor feels like . . . . It feels like very deep, all consuming cramps. . I've been walking around, tidying the house, resting on my side, laboring on the toilet and the yoga ball, etc. . I guess this baby's actually coming out. . Rock me mama like a wagon wheel. It's hard to tell. I'm banking on the fact that at some point co...

You may already be dreaming. 31 weeks (last week). I feel like I can't possibly get any bigger, but today I'm at 32 weeks, so I still have 8 to go, and only one way to grow - out! I sat in it and rocked for about ten minutes . . . long enough to worry my dog, who stood, whining, looking at me. Probably wondering how this chair was taking me so far away from him - I just sat there, staring out into space. Thinking about holding Finn, instead of only feeling him move inside me. . Don't get lost in heaven.

Preparing every part for you. Beginning to pray in earnest, truly seeking. Opening my heart to God. Asking to see his face and hear his voice. I feel close to him today. Sweet Elohim. . Reading many books lately. It's summertime, and I have about ten books in mind that I would like to read. Not to mention the sprinkling of baby and parenting books we bring home from the library. . I love feeling him move. . Well, the semester is finally over. I finished the bathroom project and it looks wonderful. It...
