Cooking with the Sun: Sweet Potato

http://cookingwiththesun.blogspot.com/2008/08/sweet-potato.html

Cooking with the Sun. Monday, August 11, 2008. Today's cooking project was a simple sweet potato. I rubbed the rather large sweet potato with a little oil and put it in the pot around 10:00am. I took it out around 6:00pm. The pot was not hot when I went to check on it at 6:00, but the potato was fully cooked and utterly delicious! You need to put a picture of this solar cooker so I can see what it looks like. April 24, 2009 at 12:57 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Cooking with the Sun: My new hobby

http://cookingwiththesun.blogspot.com/2008/08/my-new-hobby.html

Cooking with the Sun. Monday, August 11, 2008. It's been about a month now that I've been using my solar cooker and I LOVE it. I am using a panel cooker from Solar Cookers Internationa. L A friend gave it to us several years ago and I just pulled it out of the closet a few weeks ago. I am using this blog to record my solar cooking adventures. Thus far, I have cooked the following things (successfully) in my solar cooker:. Baked apples and pears. I have also made a few things semi-successfully.

These are so rich and delicious, they should only be made for events like receptions and parties, but we won't tell anyone if you make them just because. 1 cup softened butter. 1 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth, we prefer chunky). 1 1/2 cup flour. 1 tsp baking soda. 1 3/4 cup oatmeal.

But what fun it was to be up against such terrific competitors! Most of the entries featured some sort of meat, but there were some meat-free chilis, too. Grilled Tuna, Plank-Style. I love cedar plank grilling! Although the plank is traditionally soaked prior to grilling, we chose to grill on a dry plank for two reasons: the coals were set very low in the Big Green Egg, and I didn't set the tuna directly on the plank. Instead, I layered the fish atop fresh ingredients:.
