The beer is to blame | Himsagar - Journey of a lifetime
https://himsagar.wordpress.com/2007/06/07/hello-world
Himsagar – Journey of a lifetime. From Udhampur to Kanniyakumari – only by diesel. The beer is to blame. Just like most other crazy trip ideas, this too must have originated while drinking beer in a shady bar outside some godforsaken station. Was it Betul or was it Ferozpur? Nevertheless, the idea stayed and took shape. Soon we’ll be off again – this time from Udhampur to Kanniyakumari, only by diesel trains and by all three gauges. A crazy 8 day,. We start on 9th August. Date : J0000006UTC 8, 2007.

Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Sensors for model railroads - 2 - reed switches. Are a very simple and effective way to implement point sensors (see my previous post. The above photo illustrates two different kinds of reed sensors that have I tried on my layout. Click on the photo for a bigger version. On the left is a traditional inexpensive reed switch which I bought from All Electronics. On the right side of the photo, a different kind of reed switch called a cylindrical reed sensor. This particular loco...
The Coral Fringe: Indian contrasts - 1
http://coralfringe.blogspot.com/2010/08/indian-contrasts-1.html
Thursday, August 26, 2010. Indian contrasts - 1. Just got back from a two week trip to India. I saw the following mind boggling juxtaposition of scenes on same day in different locations in Chennai:. According to cardekho.com. The Porsche Cayenne in the first photo costs more than 75 million Rupees. I have no idea what a cycle rickshaw costs but its safe to say that its a lot lower. Cycle rickshaws have been plying the streets of Indian cities mostly unchanged since the 1940s. Indian contrasts - 1.

Friday, January 15, 2010. Sensors for model railroads - 1. I had originally planned to start writing about the construction of my layout but I am going to jump ahead a little and talk about sensors, a subject that has been the focus of much of my recent work on my layout. I'll get back to layout construction in subsequent posts. Send a notification message to a computer: There are a number of model railroad specific programs that can handle such notifications including JMRI. Very nicely nicely on his web...

In this posting I'll try to explain why the design works for me. The first aspect of this layout that I feel happy about is that of staging. Let me digress a bit and show you an old Marklin layout that I built back in 2003:. So this concludes the postings on the design of the layout. Next, I will cover the construction as well as some tips and tricks...
The Coral Fringe: The inspirations for my train layout
http://coralfringe.blogspot.com/2009/05/inspirations-for-my-train-layout.html
Thursday, May 14, 2009. The inspirations for my train layout. Apart from the high speed, there were several other interesting features on this train. The train had five classes of accomodation: air conditioned first class, air conditioned sleeper (one of the first in India), air conditioned chair car (yes, you had sit for 29 hours! My eventual (very long term! Labels: ModelTrains layout construction. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Rangachari Anand's shared items. New ideas for entrepreneurs in India.
The Coral Fringe: Capturing complexity
http://coralfringe.blogspot.com/2009/04/capturing-complexity.html
Saturday, April 25, 2009. As a child, I usually built "tail chaser" layouts - small ovals of track with trains running around at top speed :-). This does get boring after a while - nothing to hold your attention. After I built a tail chaser or two, after returning to model railroading, I realzed that something was missing. Even within the model railroading community, there are groups of modellers that focus on capturing different aspects of the real world. In particular, his layout Catcott Burtle. Opera...
The Coral Fringe: Operating styles
http://coralfringe.blogspot.com/2009/04/operating-styles.html
Thursday, April 30, 2009. There are many ways of capturing operational complexity of a railroad. I have encountered three distinct ways in which "serious" model railroaders operate their layouts:. This approach tends to be standard practice with those who model North American railroads and is nicely described here. Most of the traffic consisted of passenger trains with some freight trains mixed in along with them. There were both local and long-distance passenger trains including some TGVs. Some ...Model...

September 29, 2012 · 5:08 pm. September 29, 2012 · 2:02 pm. It sounds so wrong but it really worked. Most of my best recipes come from the kitchen accidents that come from not properly checking the cupboards before going to the shop or misreading a recipe. This one came from my plan to make Moroccan couscous without checking I actually had couscous. I did however have some short grained rice…. I red onion (thinly sliced). Ground ginger (2 tsp). 1 small chicken breast/quorn/sweet potato. 8211; Cycle round...

Coral Fuente Berrocal
